Apparently he likes a solid defensive base to start with - well good luck with some of our defenders!

Well certainly that interview does not instill confidense. His English is poor and will not be good enough to get his message across to non spanish speaking players.

I know he might be nervous but 90% of the phrases he used I've heard Silva say - but in much better english.

Just hope he has hidden management skills. Or maybe we sell all the non spanish speaking players and buy new spaniards.

Fingers crossed he can do the job.

I find him much easier to understand than Silva.

To be fair Silva had already been in England before managing Watford and so had a linguistic advantage. What matters is not what the new man's English is like now but how it improves. Apparently Antonio Conte spoke hardly any English when he arrived.

Cologne I was thinking that several people had commented that "at least he speaks English" or similar. When they said that as a plus I was imagining someone who could communicate tactics to the majority of the squad as an efficient manager on the training ground. He sure can learn but do we have time?

My other concern is that he should have been briefed on the questions beforehand. If he was I'm even more worried about his English. If he wasn't I'm concerned about the PR guys :(

Anyone know what is the position with supporting staff? Are the current guys staying?

I think he is quite good. On the Sky interview he successfully dodged the question on how he has seen all of the Watford games this season, tv or live.

He brought three coaches with him - Jesus Casas, Juan Solla and Inigo Arteaga. Silva's team are still there, but will presumably be leaving soon.

I think this includes the new guys.

I don't think it is that bad, I'd say he is pushing nearly to B1 which is fine to operate in a work environment.

I would like to see more of the training which takes place behind the scenes at Watford - not just passing, shooting and running, but rather their stretching exercises. Because their 'warm ups' on the pitch look inadequate to me. Maybe if they incorporated Yoga into the training there would be fewer injuries.

I also found him easier to understand and thought he made more sense in what he said with all respect than Marco Silva ever did.
As to his tactical nous we shall just have to wait and see, but strangely if Marco Silva had realised that with the players we have available perhaps playing two upfront at the present time is our best option then perhaps he would still be with us. So I shall be intrigued to see if we start Saturday with two forwards.

I did read that his favoured formation was best described as 4-2-2-2 whatever that looks like.

Looks like someone's a bit happier today. Maybe Heurelhio sat him down for a chat?
