If I go back and read all 42 pages, will I find an explanation for Dembele staying on the pitch despite a combined totting up of three red cards' worth of offences? Or is Friend still just a c***?
Equally important I would suggest. A cup final would keep our amazing run going - worth reminding ourselves of that rather than the gloom and doom of recent weeks: 2010 - cup winners 2011 - promotion 2012 - promotion 2013 - great football under MP1 2014 - 8th place finish 2015 - qualified for euro knock out 2016 - 6th and another European tour 2017 - cup final 2018 - ??
After having slept on it i can't help but be really disappointed Obafemi didn't score. It was a good performance and all but footballs made for moments like that and I would've been buzzing all week had he put it in. I imagine the lads got some seriously mixed emotions about it too.
I suppose it has to be seen as a good result. MOTD were summarising that it was. Though 2 or 3 seasons ago it would have been a home banker. They tend to forget that as they concentrate on our opposition every time.
Anyone treating this tie as a home banker 2 or 3 (or 4 or 5) seasons ago would have lost their money.
No, 5 losses and 2 draws at St. Mary’s since we came up. We last beat them at home in March 2005, the year we were relegated. Edit: we did, of course, beat them at WHL last season, thanks to 2 goals from Steven Davis.
What I mean is, we EXPECTED to eaither win or draw two seasons ago. Not EXPECT to draw or lose. Can you not see the difference when it's staring you in the face?
I agree, a couple of seasons ago we knew we could win any game....and frequently did. No team, whether they were United, City, Liverpool or Spurs, would see us as anything else but a tough opponent.
What was staring me in the face was “home banker” as those were the words you chose to use. And no, I didn’t expect to win at home against Spurs a few seasons ago.
It's probably already been mentioned, but the 3 letters should obviously be CUP. If this works, the Brighton game will start with UP
“Going to Brighton with a win under our belt after a draw against a top side will do wonders”. And see us docked points for not turning up at St Mary’s.
I think that we missed 3 chances like that, Obafemi, Gabbi and someone else. There were some good crosses going in but no one on the end. Gabbi obviously needs game time and I will forgive Obafendi this once
I'm disappointed we didn't score AT ALL. Own goals count but be nice to know we had a player who can put them in the back of the net. The play yesterday was miles removed from the earlier games this season when Gabbi was playing on his own in a different team. There were several attempts to put him through on goal, with a bit more practice it could happen!
