I'd be very interested to hear how much Lennon is getting paid at Burnley.

Just recounting a story on Sky about how Hartlepool stepped in when Middlesbrough were in serious trouble in 1985. Not a story I know, but may be familiar to you. Middlesbrough were informed that they couldn't play the opening game of the season because they had no police cover....would have meant real trouble with the league even if someone stepped in to save them financially. Hartlepool stepped up and offered their ground after their opening game. A player told how he was told to hurry up in the showers, so the Boro team match could be started. Now Boro are trying to help Hartlepool who face going out of business....3000 Boro fans are going to the Hartlepool game and have also done fundraising for them.

Feel for them as we were in this position not so long ago. However, good to hear when the football family join together.

The most pathetic performance of the weekend must go to Deportivo La Coruna, losing 7-1!!!!! They should be asamed of themselves. It is not as if they were facing Messi and Barcelona!!!

Yeah I know, I mean seriously, what on earth would possess someone to do that?

Hope they get bans but also nicked for a criminal offence.

Sad news! Jimmy Armfield has died. IMO he was by far the best pundit on either radio or TV as he gave measured comments. He was never opinionated but considered, measured and analytical. Thank you Jimmy for letting us hear your brilliant summaries down the years. Now doubt your fellow clubmate Alan Ball, will be waiting to team up with you again.

And a great player too. Played over 500 games for Blackpool, and over 40 for England.

    RIP Jimmy <rose>

For me , he was to football commentary what John Arlott was to cricket. Distinctive voice and no crap. I'm old enough to have seen him play as well. He alone made me want Leeds to win that European Final. And on that subject, we moan about refs. Bloody Nora!

    Thanks, Jimmy.

Michael O'Neill has turned down the opportunity to manage the Scotland national team.

Is he expecting something better? Maybe he wants a go at club management. Watford will have vacancy by the end of March.

So with Jimmy having departed, there are only two of the old school left. Alan Green and the summariser, David Pleat.

It is a summary of life. At some stage we have to depart, and someone else will take up the reins. It may be an improvement, it may not be, but the replacement will bring his or own personality to the table. Tonight there is a funeral mass for a guy who lived down the road here in Esporles. He was of the old school because when the weather was warmer, he would sit outside his front door listening to the football commentary on the radio. How many of us still do that?
