I would take Dempsey definitely, but it's unlikely we'll get him or any more midfielders imo.

We have Vuckic, Gosling, Ben Arfa, Marveaux, Abeid & Jonas. However I would take Parker.

Would love for it too happen. But, as it is on goal.com. I'll take it with a pinch of salt.

Parker? We had his best years and they weren't that good.

This, unless it's someone like Barnetta. A LB and a ST is IMO much, much more important. <ok>

We don't really need a direct replacement if/when Barton leaves.

Great leader in the middle of the park and I think we have lost that in Barton.

If he goes I can see us getting a player in on loan most likely.

I wouldn't be surprised if Obertan was bought as a replacement for Barton (post decision to let him go, pre actual departure)

Would love him, but for £10mill and the fact he's 28 it doesn't really fit with Ashley's 'young and cheap' policy does it. May as well just offer Joey a new contract!

Midfield is the area we're well covered for. A striker and a LB have to be the main priority now.

That would seem to indicate that there is some forward thinking in Ashleys' transfer strategy which hasn't been shown before!!

No idea why we're taking so long over this too.

I've siad a few times, i'd love Krancjar to replace Barton here, but i dont think we'll get anyone in to replace him now because its not a position we need cover in at all.

He's already playing out of position on the right. At least now we can put a proper winger there to stretch teams a little more and not have the danger of them dutting inside most of the game and leaving Danny Simpson exposed so much.

Ideally i'd like Gutierrez to go back to the right hand side and have Marveaux take over the left, but we'll see what happens. Theres still Vuckik, Gosling, Ben Arfa, Obertan and Abeid that are more than capable there.

Dempsey is one of the most underrated players in the league. Would love him here!

    Rather just keep Barton though.

Dempsey can play striker as well, so it's not too far fetched...would love him here though! Him or another American player, Brek Shea
