What a treat!...I've just discovered this album by Offa Rex that was released at the end of last year. It's a collaboration between Portland Indie Folk Rock band The Decemberists and English Folk Singer Olivia Chaney and is a kind of tribute to 70's Folk Revival bands like Fairport Convention, Steeleye Span and Pentangle and is a collection of old Folk songs in a Folk Rock style. It's called The Queen Of Hearts...
Wow! Thanks for those SA! What a stunning voice Olivia Chaney has, a worthy successor to the likes of Sandy Denny and Maddy Prior. I loved all those, particularly Queen of Hearts, which I seem to remember was on Martin Carthy’s first solo album after leaving Steeleye. Wonderful.
Yeah, wonderful indeed, it's the first i'd heard of her, i've got all of The Decemberist's albums since they started in the early noughties.
Yes, I’ve always liked their stuff, but they seem to have hit on a fantastic addition to their sound with Olivia. Love her playing of the harmonium and harpsichord too!

If Alan Lomax is getting a mention, feel Shirley Collins needs her dues paid too, as he shoved her to the side a bit. One of our finest... Don't let the cat picture put you off...
