The more they cost the more the pressure is on them i suppose but lets be honest here how did they come up with a figure of £15m + add ons is baffling. And what is more baffling is why we agreed to the deal....

Expensive players, good players, players who might have transferred to a mid table team don't want to come to Swansea - I can understand their reluctance.

But we also needed back up players at left back and probably right back.
We have needed a dominant CDM - a loan or contract to an older player who could have an influence this half of the season should not be beyond our means.

IMO the only player we should be breaking the bank for is a creative midfielder - or use who we have in a more creative way.
e.g. Ki in the 10 role for more than a one off game.

A striker should be the most expensive player but not necessarily so......I believe you are only good if your scouts are good at finding the right player like they did when we found Michu and many others in our lower league days, Our biggest mistake every season is we never get in the market like others early and we always wait until the last minute where we are left with the dregs and we over spend on players that clubs want to get rid of at a price they know we have to buy at because the window is about to close and we are panic buying.....We have to change the way we do things if we are to get the right players in the future....

Mesa to Sevilla - doing the rounds in Spain.
No price mentioned but £8 would do if if could be concluded in time to bring in another player.

    Anyone going fro this?
£120,000 a week for Nicolas Gaitan. (Loan for the rest of the season.)

' ... the 29-year-old could be allowed to leave Atletico on loan this month, after a permanent deal attracted 'no takers'. Doesn't fill me with confidence.

12 games - no goals - still out of action following an injury at the end of November.
Previous season 3 goals in 23 La Liga appearances.
Just 4 in 25 in 15/16 in Liga Nos.

what worried me was carvahals comments that if we don't bring anyone in then we still have enough to stay up. if that isn't preparing the fans don't know what is.

Is all down to Jenkins though ? I suspect no. Pearlman seems to be calling the shots now. Jenkins looks more like a scapegoat to help defer what is going on.....

If players don't want to come hat do you do?
Talk of paying an injured low scoring striker £120,000 a week suggests we are desperate.
We should have brought players in in the summer. Part of the problem was Clment bringing in two gambles in Abraham and Sanches.

Isn’t Gaitan a left winger? I thought Gameiro was the striker we were after

I don't buy all this bull about players not wanting to come here, I think its our press dept earning their money trying to con us with excuses. Obviously, its harder signing players we want from our current position, but I don't believe for one minute that no one wants to come here. The fact we haven't signed anyone yet tells me that either we are not looking hard enough or that we simply aren't trying to sign anyone.

We ply our trade in the premier league and players will always want to play for a premier league club regardless. If they'd come here they'd all have relegation release clauses in their contracts for sure but by coming here they'd get to show themselves off, on Sky or BTSports, NBC and other American chanels and, of course, on Match of the Day. They'd get to play in front of millions and get the chance to shine in a premier league football shirt. Playing in the prem would expose the players to the world so I don't beleive we can't find at least one, who'd want to come here and play for us.

Imo, the reason we haven't signed anyone is because our owners are not looking to sign any players who'll add to the wage bill. No one has signed for us because we have not actively perused any one, we have not spoken to any players or their agents and we have not made a single bid on any player and we wont be this window.

    Still haven't signed anyone?

Don't these ****ers realise with a couple of quality signings we can not only now stay up under Carlo but target a higher place finish than last season.

The problem is given the position we are in it seems the players we need don't want to come to us and it's a waste of time signing players who aren't better than what we've got.

There are plenty of players that will sign but we are far too slow off the mark and the ones that would make a difference are snapped up early......We wait to see if they become cheaper and we always lose out.....The yanks through pearlman are in control of spending i have no doubt about that and they have slashed the wage bill and have no intention of putting enough money to buy the right players we need....The early bird catches the worm.....

Totally agree - If I was a player with absolutely no connection to the Swans, was in and out of a team that will almost certainly be playing European football next season would I come to Swansea? Only for shed loads of cash.
I also think some of our event dealings won't have impressed many with quite a few players not featuring and leaving on loan or permanently.

We should have been arranging transfers and loans before Christmas - I wonder how much Clement's comments about the squad being good enough slowed things down.

My memory of what Clement said was that we had too many of the same type of player something CC has echoed. I agree totally about having signings lined up before the transfer window opened but this is nothing new for us, we're always late to the party. Clement's late sacking may have made the situation even worse. Off field incompetence which we have been seeing for some time now.
