Three huge games, however I’ll also include baggies away, Toon away, West Ham away, Burnley away (suited them being away last time), Swansea away, are all games we can do well in. March will be a big month!
Oh completely. But Bill was talking about clubs coming to our place and sitting behind the ball. You'd think in those away games, they'd be a little more open against us. Us finding a way past them might be a little easier.
Credit where it’s due. Nobody really put a foot wrong today including the manager. One game won’t change my thoughts on him but full credit to him from me.
What kind of idiot Manager would put a completely untried, unknown 17 year old kid on in a game of this magnitude? Mind you had he scored that chance it would have been called a stroke of genius. I guess Scouse have first dibs?
Can’t remember another 17 year old playing for Saints since a certain young man played and scored a hatriick against Arsenal. Wasn’t his name Er.........Alan Shearer?
Christ ****ing alive, this picture is the epitome of my hatred for modern day fans. If we get relegatedm we;d see the back of this ****.
Would like to add that i thought the manager got it spot on too.good substituions and tactics.credit were its due
Thankfully that was "only" his eighth booking so has two more games before he will have the sit out a two game ban. Thought it was hilarious that it took Demebele six fouls before getting booked but Romeu only one....no great surprise when Friend is refereeing
I first saw Michael Channon play for Southampton in April 1966 against Palace. He was a 16 year old at the time. For the record SFC won 1-0 and the rest of the season was historic.
MP: Look Les, now we've missed out on Theo I can't stress too strongly how important it is that we get someone in who's a bit pacy up front to compete against Gabbi and Shane. Les: Hang on a minute. I think I've got an idea...!! He did look quite useful in his cameo appearance but we need to be careful about not pushing or expecting too much from him. Surprised not to see Sims around the squad today.
Well that was good. Good starting 11. Good substitutions. No toxicity in the crowd. Fair play Saints, and fair play MP2. I feel so much happier with Gabbi up top too.
Still think they'll stick with MP2. A lot of excitement around Silva today but the fact that his head was so easily turned does not do his reputation any good at all.
A word for Poch too. He stayed out at the end, shaking hands and hugging the players as they came off, including Davis, Romeu etc. He’s good, he is.
Thought Gabbi helped our shots on goal tally today but rarely troubled the keeper. For me he played far too deep and at times it looked like Hojbjerg was our No 9. Unless he scores sometime soon, he is still behind Long IMO. Bertrand played well at times and forced the error for our goal but still looked a bit off the pace. But generally a good team performance against a niggly Spurs side. Nice to see McCarthy settling in between the sticks. Commanded his area well and good decision making esp when he came off his line. A couple of those saves might well have beaten Forster based on his form this season. Apart from the odd 50+ loud mouth, I thought the fans were superb today, sticking behind the team right to the end
The only thing I have against Poch is that he poached Mitchell. Not because it constituted wrongdoing, but because I think that that much of the black box was perched on his shoulders.
