i think he's always been poor at St Marys. He's probably at other grounds but I'm not there so cant say. I've always thought he's no friend of ours
Cynical question here.. Were saints that much better today, or was it that spurs were very poor? Did the conditions make it harder for them to get their game going? I thought we still looked weak at the back but spurs never really tested it in the second half (0 shots on target).. Was a stark contrast for both sides maybe compared to the game at Wembley. I still think if spurs turned up that we are used too they would of won easily?
We played well for most of the games & the substitutions were decent, our midfield put in a shift, unfortunately they don't have the pace when played through so ended up shooting from further out. Happy with today, we just need to continue against Brighton!
I guess that’s my point tho, did we really turn up? Feel like we were never properly tested and the conditions helped our cause massively.. the pitch was very heavy and no one ever really appeared to have the ball under full control I would say Watford and palace asked more questions of us than what spurs did today. Therefore did we actually put in a really good performance?
All of those things, but it was what it was. We played well, better than we’ve done recently for 90 minutes and we got a point. We are not going to go from being poor to suddenly being grade. Baby steps, and today was quite a few. Huge commitment from the players too. Lots of areas to highlights that weren’t great, it hey.... more positives than normal.
Definitely. I think the conditions helped us out today. Still feel that if spurs asked the questions that palace and Watford did we would of crumbled. However we got the point and the result hopefully brings the players some confidence and belief they have been lacking
Did we make them play poorly though? I think we did!!! We pressed more and had more urgency. I'm sure that most fans though we would loose the game so its a point gained, pity it wasn't 3 points. If we had more clinical we would have won that How Dembele wasn't booked earlier I dont know. Thats two poor refereeing decisions that we have been victim too Doucoure and Demebele.
Good result...every point important and must give the team some confidence. No point in saying that Spurs weren't as good today...they were as good as they were allowed to be. I certainly didn't want Spurs to be superb today. Always a shame that we couldn't sneak a win, but I am satisfied....now for Brighton (after the FA Cup game).
I think we did our part in making them play poorly but watching on tv the game it never really felt like it flowed and at times almost felt slow motion. No one ever seemed to have the ball under full control, players were missing the ball and there was a lot of mis kicks. Bertrand said post match the conditions almost made it old school style today and it allowed us to grind out the result imo.. it really stopped spurs from getting into their rythem. Top work rate from our boys though on a heavy pitch
Strewth mate.......Have you considered that Saints actually made them look poor? We’re the conditions any different for the Saints players? The defence restricted them to two shots on target Saints may not have the strongest defence but they didn’t do too bad a job today. Spurs did turn up......they just found we weren’t as easy to beat as they thought we would be.
