My fear, even more than a poor result, is that my two young grandsons having their annual birthday treat will see the following, fans behaving in a way which sets a poor example of how to react when facing acute disappointment, i.e. OTT in name calling, personal insults, especially of a crude nature and booing players throughout the game. I know we are all frustrated and worried about what is, is not happening, but none of the aforementioned will help the situation one bit. I'm furious with the way things are going and have written in clear terms to the Club about how I see things, but I will not join in any of the personal or unhelpful behavior seen on this board and in 'The Echo' in recent days. If we pull off the 'miracle' of a) a 90+min total commitment performance and b) actually win, then that will do more good for the team and the suffering supporters than anything else. We have recovered before and can do it again and put all this stuff behind us. I do accept though that the owner and his management team need to step up to the plate and show some commitment to the patient supporters. The next few days will show us more about them for sure as to their real interest in the Club.
That is what fills me with despair. Not the thought of getting beat, but the thought of how our fans will react. Mind you, there is a positive. Much easier getting out of the ground when it's already half empty on 80 minutes.
I've said already once the games done I'd like the fans to show their feelings for the final ten minutes.
Fair point. I haven't seen any evidence that the players are not playing for the manager. They are playing without confidence, but not, so far as I can see, without commitment.
The trouble with that is, the ones who tend to complain the loudest will be halfway across the Itchen Bridge by then.
Possibly... Get it out there live on Sky though increases the pressure on the board to act. Hopefully Silva is here by Tuesday.
There should be no reaction during the game. Show the country (and a new manager) how good our fans are (sic).... Then let them know post final Whistle.
Doesn't have the same impact. Easier for Les and Co to ignore if it's not plastered on Sky for the rest of the evening. The new manager might not happen, could be down to the support to force their hand.
