Yes and he would be much more exposed to the media and probs come under a lot of fire because of his lack of relationship with the majority of the electorate.... would be a disaster for the tories in my opinion. Having voted out the electorate will most likely choose a more restrained approach at the next election...... this things always swing in a two-party democracy.... we need moderation
The French are not quite so daft. EU BOMBSHELL: Macron admits France would vote to LEAVE EU if country held referendum FRENCH president Emmanuel Macron shocked Andrew Marr during their interview when he admitted that had France held a referendum...
It is all about perception...... sadly people believe they will be better off out.... and of course if the bigger countries leave they will have to find a way for the whole raft of trade and other treaties they are all signed up to... ... swings and roundabouts...
France pulling out would be great as everyone would have a very serious rethink and it would help us enormously. But there's more chance of Zinedine Zidane sitting in the dug out against Chelsea
I agree they would not let the French people decide because the EU has a policy of ignoring the people anyway. Of course the eurocrats know what is best for the little people, silly idea democracy.
Your post makes no sense to me? 1) EU has no say in any French future decision 2) The EC do follow the policy of the countries decided at the EU parliament...... there is a real myth perpetuated that they have gargantuan power which is not a fact.
Of course the senior French politicians are intertwined with the unelected EU decision makers. Look what happened in the UK, don't let the people have a say.
The French are not very satisfied with the EU. Tory MP David Davies SLAMS Macron after he admits FEAR of Brexit-style referendum result THE French people would follow Britain’s lead and vote to leave the European Union, given the chance, their president Emmanuel...
I think the French President doubting his country's desire to stay in the EU is a massive revelation. No wonder the eurocrats hate referendums.
What a non-story this is. Macron is rather more intelligent than what is on offer in the UK, and there is no talk whatsoever of holding a referendum in France. What we have seen since the one in the UK is a increase in support for the EU, with the opinion expressed frequently that this country is not quite as stupid as the one across the Channel. Still there you are, the press trying to make a story of a non-event.
This is not a right wing press conspiracy but the French President saying on TV that probably France would vote to exit the EU if they were given a referendum. So he is predicting the same result as in the UK. I knew France was one of the most eurosceptic member countries in the EU but not as much as Macron has indicated. Obviously the political masters will never allow a referendum due to the lack of confidence in the result.
It is a non story because there is not going to be a referendum in France. No one is calling for one. I would worry yourself about the mess that your political masters have got you into rather more than about something that is not wanted in another country.
Which 'political masters' are you referring to SH ? Those in France or in the EU. ? Did anyone in the EU. try to stop the UK. having a referendum ? Did anyone in the EU. ask the British to vote again ? The answer there is a catagorical no - the EU. had absolutely no imput into the debate or the referendum, not even to contradict lies by the Brexit campaign. If you are referring to French 'political masters' then you need to realize once and for all that no other EU. country will be having a referendum on this. The reason for this is the electoral system in the UK. which can give one party a majority - Britain is the only one party state in Europe (this may not hang well with your democratic instincts, but this is the case). In every other country it would be necessary to have a coalition of parties who had all offered a referendum in their manifesto - and that is not going to happen. So, much as you would like to see a precedent created here, Britain is alone !
It appears most living in France do not share your confidence in the EU and would leave given the choice. This is hardly a vote of confidence in the EU given one of its main partners has a public not convinced of the value of membership. The anti EU parties are set to dominate in the forthcoming Italian elections, problems are mounting in the EU.
And how is it that you claim to know more about what the French people want through reading the Express than Frenchie does through living there ?
Your President is saying more than 50% would vote to leave, not much of a vote of confidence in the EU. I would expect the eurocrats are livid with his gaffe revealing the large scale opposition against the EU in France. This is purely down to his inexperience in politics. A more polished performer would have dodged the question, he just highlighted the abject failure of the EU to convince the people on its path to a superstate.
