Prospects of playing football rather than sitting on the bench? .......have you been to Wolverhampton......or Huddersfield for that matter.......erm........er..........Farke?........no can' think of any other reasons. Bah!
That's probably about right, GM. Hernandez is a winger and that's what we need after the departure of Jacob and Wildschut. IMO we also need a striker to replace Jerome and a RB to replace Martin. With DF saying that Jarvis will be back in training soon, the latter two positions seem to be the priorities unless we have a young RB similar to Jamal Lewis in the wings (Ramsey?).
So can Zimmerman. Be good to have a back up RB proper but we've got cover if it doesn't happen. Striker please!
Hernandez: Wolves likely to be in PL next season, Huddersfield presently in the PL. NCFC mid-table in Championship side and unlikely to be promoted. In the circumstances Farke, if he is really interested, will have to use all his powers of persuasion as it is very likely that Hernandez could also earn more at either of the two other sides who are rumoured to be interested.
Hernandez is a RW, which we could probably do with another option there. Pacey flair player. Not that excited by him, but will add pace and hopefully directness to a slow team. Hopefully he's another Trybull/Zimmermann find. He was just linked to Wolves and Huddersfield last summer. It's not like he's turned them down to join us. The other 2 teams obviously didn't go for him.
£1.80M....dream on, Woy! Norwich City’s James Maddison would be the perfect addition to the Crystal Palace squad. The 21-year-old looks destined for the top, and after announcing himself on the world stage with his performances against Premier League Chelsea in their FA Cup tie and subsequent replay at Stamford Bridge broadcast live on the BBC, sides are sure to be interested in acquiring the player’s signature this month. Maddison, rated at just £1.80m on Transfermarkt, is exactly what Palace need right now.
But with transfer market you have to take the original figure then times it by 10 then divided by your dog's birthday that figure is something close within 50% to the actual amount . Excluding wages
He's certainly a real prospect. He should bring a bit of spark and excitement. He will scare the crap out of opposition defenders. Mini Messi Potch called him, didn't he?
**** nose it was free and that's all that matters because we are skint now the parachute hit the floor.
We also have another 19 year-old new addition who seems to be settling in well. This from winger Simon Powers: "I've settled in well and all the lads have been good to me, which really helps. The club is outstanding and everything is a really high standard. Norwich as a place is quite similar to where I live back in Ireland. It was definitely a really good choice for me. I grew up watching Wes Hoolahan play for Ireland, so he's a bit of a hero to me. I look up to him, so it's great to see him about the place all the time." https://www.canaries.co.uk/News/2018/january/simon-power-bournemouth-u23s/
We don't play with "wingers" though. Yesterday Murphy was deployed as a left mid with no balance on the other side. It was such a weird formation! 5 defenders, 3 CMs (inc Madders who was playing far too deep), one winger and one up front. No point buying a winger when we are playing with wing-backs! Unless, of course, he is planning a change.
Zimmermann cannot play at right back! Far too slow! Looked like he was running in treacle when Donaldson came on yesterday and Donaldson is about 40!
It may be over enthusiastic editing, but Wiki is saying that Onel Hernandez has signed for City: "Onel Hernández has signed for English Championship club Norwich City F.C. after a January move was completed after various meetings with the English club's representatives. The fee was rumoured to be £1.7m." This one looks likely to me, but don't know whether the deal has been done. This was the latest news on Friday: "According to transfer news from Charlie Wyett of The Sun, Norwich City are moving closer towards the signing of Eintracht Braunschweig winger Onel Hernandez after submitting a £1.7m bid for his services."
McClean from Aberdeen and Fletcher from Middlesbrough latest to be touted as coming to CR. Fletcher has scored very few goals since going to The Riverside Stadium and appears to be a very big gamble. McClean is for me an unknown quantity so here’s hoping he can make the grade if he arrives.
I still think that Hernandez is the most likely signing, as said in my post above. McLean is an attacking CM similar to Howson in style in that he can also play out wide. Only 6 months left on his contract and he's refused a new one, so could be available for around 500k with reasonable wages. Fletcher has fallen down the order behind the expensive strikers Boro signed in the summer, only 3 of his 16 appearances were starts, with the other 13 as sub. They paid £6.5m to sign him from West Ham, so he must have potential. It would be a loan, so a limited risk.
Fletch is a very decent young player. He also has a bit of pace. Which I think we have long missed at this club up front.
