Ahem , I may be investigating 'elsewhere' ...when in Rome. ps Groningen is a good alternative to Dam.
My wife was in Oslo a while ago, work trip. Went out for a meal with her hosts who really believed they'd pushed the boat out when they ordered a bottle of wine, between 8 people... Lived in Copenhagen early 80's. Yes it was full of Swedes even then who came across for the 'cheap' beer. They'd start on Friday night and not finish until Sunday afternoon. The canal area was littered with sleeping Swedes every weekend all year round.
You can get pints almost everywhere BCC just ask for a "Stor Stark" or big strong one. (That's not a set up BTW you will get a pint of strong beer). Ask for a "beer" and youll probably get a 250ml. If you come again pm me and I'll buy you a couple. This thread does make me cry a little though. can some of you really get a beer in a pub for 3 quid'ish. When I'm in the UK it's usually Milton Keynes or London and it always seems to be about a fiver.
I think it says it all that this beer thread already has four times as many posts as the Team News thread started yesterday.
Yeah that was just a joke for Kempers and I couldn’t remember what I paid for a pint, I just remember baulking at £9 for half for the missus. There was one ‘cheap’ pub, it was a chain - something like Lion Bar? (not a chocolate based joke). It was like a rougher Spoons rammed with unsavoury types but we had a couple anyway cos it was about £6 for half from memory. Cheers for the offer but it was a one-off birthday present for the missus, enjoyed Djurgaarden
When we played Chelsea a few years ago in Premier League, I remember one of their fans being in front of me at the bar in Ebenezer Morleys in Hull City centre. He ordered (something like) 2 pints of lager, a pint of bitter, and a JD and coke. He was stood there with 2 x £20 notes ready (presumably straight out of train station to first pub). I think it came to about £9.50 and he nearly passed out at how cheap it was. Him and his mates were still in the pub around 2:40 when we left, not sure if he ever made it to the game.
Any music/night clubs you'd recommend other than the super clubs? , think it's called Escape which is empty out of season.
Never been clubbing in Amsterdam myself, but I know people who have been in AIR who said it was a good night but really pricey.
Yeah I’m pretty sure that happens (although not where I was today) ...to be honest I think I’d do the same as the landlord
Yea Lion Bar is a mini chain owned by some Balkan "Gentlemen". Rough as old boots mate. Djurgården is very nice. Walking distance from me. Drink priced here are a joke luckily I drink so much I never remember what it cosy me.... I'm in belgium all next week with work. I'm expecting the beer to be free as a charitble work of the monks.
