As im sure your aware, a driver change is in line at Lotus-Renault. But what would you do ? Stick with the current set up or change ?
Heidfeld isn't all that behind a wheel its time to let young senna prove if he's got what it takes in a half decent car, it is ridiculous to judge him on his time at HRT.
I wouldnt say hes that young at 27 but i agree that he shouldnt have been judged so harshly being in a dog of a car last year.
Nick Heidfeld is beating Petrov in the Championship and is great for technical feedback and development. But that's not enough for Renault, it's almost as if they expect him to annihilate Petrov in the same way that Kubica did. Can Boullier not see that Petrov has improved greatly since last year? Even if we assume that Senna is a better driver than Heidfeld, Senna lacks experience with the R31 and that'll cause him problems. We saw the effects of that when Fisi went to Ferrari in 09. Heidfeld is averaging 3 points per race and I'd be very surprised if Senna get's close to that. I can understand why some people argue that Senna deserves another shot at F1, but this isn't the right way to make his comeback.
Give Senna 3 races to show what he can do. If he doesn't score at least 8 points in those races, get Heidfeld back in the seat.
Very unfair. With the lack of experience in the car and renaults ****ty development it would be positive to score 1. Its not a case of Bruno being faster than nick now. Thats nearly impossible. Its about the future. Nick is Underperforming there is no doubt about that to me, because there is no way petrov has improved that much that being outqualified 8-3 and outscoring him by 3 points is good enough. So why put in someone who will be inevitably slower? Because they have already lost 4th and are much slower than Mercedes while 5th place Sauber have half their points. There is no future in Nick so why not give Bruno a chance? It is sad to see Heidfelds career presumably end like this but he has had his time now.
Heidfeld or Senna? Do I want a racer or a money-spinner to bring in some revenue? Neither are world beaters but whilst one is a professional, the other is hoping to be…
In my opinion, Petrov is easily the most improved driver since 2010. Kubica would have been better but I dont think he would have much more than 60 points. I would be suprised if Senna got points, and wouldnt be suprised if he was about a second of Petrov. I think Heidfeld should have had the job until Kubica comes back.
I would have just waited for the inevitable return of robert kubica. No need to throw senna in the car, and have to spend a fortune on having to rebuild it every time he puts it in the barriers.
when has senna put an F1 car in the barriers? I would say he is pretty reliable and not as skatty as Petrov and QN
It was an example. Senna is to all intents and purposes, a rookie. (that HRT doesn't count as an f1 car) he needs to relearn to drive competitivly at Spa, the toughest circuit on the calendar. If he doesn't crash at least once i'll be amazed.
When most of the season has already been completed, wouldn't it be wiser to choose the experienced driver who knows the car better?
No substance to back up my comment but could Renault be preparing to have a long term replacement to Kubica? Kubica may never race at F1 level again sadly.
Singapore last year. On another note, Kubica's doctors reckon by the end of next month, he should be fit to try out a simulator
No he didn't. He put it into a Sauber. Good news about Kubica though, but will he ever be the standard he was?
I think it's far from inevitable that Kubiça will return, particularly in the short-term. One would presume Renault have realised that whilst crossing their fingers, they cannot flounder indefinitely whilst waiting to find out; and although on the face of it, I do not agree with their decision, they obviously feel they need a short-term solution. I don't think Cowboy actually said he had but I agree it seemed to be implied. - I think this is a fair question. I didn't actually see an example. Cowboy: Whilst I agree with your general opinion of Senna B., don't you think it unfair to imply that he frequently goes into the barriers if you are unable to give even one example?
I shouldn't need to. The general consensus on senna b, is that he is error prone. I was just trying to make a point, when i said example, i used the wrong word. I think inevitable was the word i was looking for.
