Think that best thing that could happen now is the deal to be dead in the water and Ashley reach the obvious conclusion that he will protect his investment, splash enough cash to keep us up and sell for a better price later in season. No doubt we are worth more with a PL seaon under our belts and a guaranteed 2nd season of PL TV money. Now we know he wants out its the obvious sensible business decision. I dont want to see Albert tucking into his crackers and pubes anymore than the next man but I think it might happen.
Could it be that 17m was cadswollop? I mean at the time it was laughable. I reckon there will still be 6 or 7 PL clubs that haven’t spent more than 17m as of last summer. West Brom, Swansea, Brighton, Huddersfield, Burnley, Southampton, Watford?? I could be wrong, maybe I’m out of touch, but I reckon most clubs in the PL outside of the top 8 purchase players for around 12m unless it’s a special purchase. I don’t know this to be fair, I’m just guessing. Perhaps Rafa prefers numbers over quality? I just think he had hadn’t had it much harder than most managers around our level. It’s just our fans still think we are a top 8 club competing with top 8 money. Welcome to the real world Rafa

So she's offered to buy the club for £250m. Which is well below what Ashley wants and hardly covers, if at all, Ashley's costs of the loan and for the original purchase. The rest is just a promise. And we've seen them before. I don't believe any good is going to come of this takeover, if it happens, if they are penny pinching like this.
£50m difference equates to nearly 17% of Mike's valuation of the club, so that is a significant amount. Whether we like it or not, the club is the property of Mike Ashley. If you owned a property that you valued at £300,000 and wanted to move, would you sell it for £250,000? If you only wanted to move but didn't need to then you probably wouldn't accept the low bid. If you needed to move then you might accept it. That leaves the question - does Mike need to sell us or only want to?
