Guardian just releasing statements about reuben brothers no longer want to back staveley or something.. Im Sure one of you wiz kids can get the link up cause I bloody can't
Looks like Staveley was having a whip-round to buy the club!! https://www.theguardian.com/football/2018/jan/17/reuben-family-newcastle-takeover-amanda-staveley
We need FSG type investment. Considered, sustainable, driven by sports success. The more I see of this attempt by Staveley, the more it looks like another rich arsehole just having a laff.
Have you been hurt by recent broken promises? Have you been mis-sold a PCP policy offering false hope? If this is you, then you may be entitled to compensation. PCP Claims Direct specialise in getting you the compensation you are entitled to. No matter what your club, dreams or aspirations are, if you were mis-sold hope by the PCP policy, then you are entitled to make a claim for all of the PCP hope you have invested to date. I was about to post the same link and it looks as if Staveley was looking for backers and her backers weren't entirely on board and it all fell apart at her end. So, for once, I think that there's little or no blame to be held against Ashley.
I really do hope so. In fact I want to believe that he's looking after ours and his interest but I cannot see beyond my blind hatred for the man. He once said 'what Rafa wants Rafa gets'.... well that's complete camel **** as Rafa's wanted lots of things and tries to shop in Tesco.... but ends up raiding the Farm Food bins.
We just have to hope Ashley reverts to his strategy over the last 2.5 years of allowing the manager to spend what the club has in its coffers. And hope that there's something actually in the coffers, obviously. I think there's still little chance of him stumping money out of his own pocket despite our Premier League status being on a knife-edge.
No chance whatsoever. If we go down and he has to fund anything, he'll do it on a loan. But we can never speculate to accumulate. I wonder what it would be like to have a club with a real board, real operations, real ambition?
That's the thing, a real board with real ambitions is exactly what we need. Not some one-eyed barrow boy despot. We are held to ransom by him.
If you ask me, it looks like we would be jumping from the frying pan and into the fire were Staveley and her backers to get their hands on the club. Right now, as much as we don't trust Ashley, does anyone trust Staveley more?
Tbh I don't know how it can be any worse surely she or whoever takes the club on knows the product is the team and to make that product successful it needs backing, commitment and communication with the fans something the fat **** never has. I just want him out and a fresh start.
This! I'll happily spend another decade moaning about our owner if it's not Mike Ashley. People say better the devil you know, but what about when he is running your club? There will be infinite more hope and possibility with someone else, there is zero with the fat man. Stavers could get a million things wrong, two right, and still have been more productive than him
Bet the fans of Blackburn, Coventry, Leyton Orient etc thought the same......... Not that I'm in any way trying to defend Ashley, but it doesn't always work out for the best
Whoever takes over (eventually) I don't see it being Staveley. God knows what happened during the negotiations but I don't see her having the backing we were led to believe she has.
Bit different teams to ours like, but you can't really financially mismanage to that point in the Premier League anymore. Think Pompey were the last to do it?
To be fair Ashley always gives us every chance. He did so when McClaren/Benitez failed to save us last time, buying Shelvey, Townsend, Saivet for 27m despite spunking over 45m that summer. He did the time when Pardew had us in trouble and saved us with a 19m spending spree on Debuchy, Mbiwa, Sissoko etc. Its complicated this time with the takeover. None of us know if that is Ashley or Staveley pissing about so I can't blame anyone really. I think if Ashley can provide the funds he will because he will want to protect the investment and I think he genuinely wants Newcastle to do well. It was managerial problems that led to us dropping a division last time remember, not investment. The first time round maybe it was his fault, but I think he has learnt from it to a certain extent. He just can't afford to fund it at the level required year on year to be free of the threat of relegation like the top 8. In terms of a takeover we need a serious investor and I'm afraid it is better the devil you know. Unless less someone is going to come in and provide funds and just as importantly structure akin to Everton upover then we are better off with Ashley. Of course funding the playing staff is vitally important. However we are proof that throwing money at that alone doesn't secure anything. You have to put the structures in place like Spurs, Everton, Southampton which hopefully in tandem with investment will make you secure. You need vision in the boardroom and at manager level. This is where Ashley has failed more than anything. His managerial appointments have not been great and the guys at board level have been terrible. A lack of football knowledge is the problem there.
So far, Staveley hasn't even jumped the first hurdle...stumping up the cash to buy the club in the first place (or so it seems).
