A lot of those teachers were just ****ing pervs who enjoyed beating children. I can see why ER is so in favour of it...
kids dont know what respect is. but understand fear. often that fear becomes respect look at the role of the father, mothers did all the beating etc but the threat of 'i'll tell your father' was scarier we treat kids like adults, they are not. kids are kids. they rebel etc there is nothing more a teacher can do when a kid says '**** you' its not about controlling the class. its a kid knowing they cant do **** all past a certain point

there is a lot of truth in this 'good' teachers have left the profession or forced out as 2 newly qualifieds cost less than one long timer most see teaching as a career and as long as they get paid dont give a **** truth is parents want others to look after their kids, but are over protective so you get mothers saying the govt/teachers are not doing x y and z, but when little johnny is in trouble are the first to defend him

I always felt sorry for my teachers. There was one guy who got sacked for getting in a full blown argument with a student, and he ended up insulting the pupil, who went crying home to his parents, who complained to the school. After that debacle, i actually started calming down, and supporting the teachers. The only bad thing i did after that was jump out of a 2nd storey window for a bet.

I was class rep for 7 years, and I sat on the financial planning board as a representative for the school for 2 years.
