Bradley Orr? Discuss..... Barton is a fine player, would be a massive coup. £60k a week for 3 years = £9m over 3 years for one of the best midfielders in the country. No brainer for me, just not sure it's gonna happen.
Grove, I was using the examples of Taarabt and Bowles to show that if we never signed people who had a bit of a past in some way we would have been denied some of our best ever players. Bradley Orr was inside once and no-one raised an eyebrow at signing him.
Interesting development. Another posturing stance from the new management, or a real attempt? Or just an attempt by his agent to get Barton out there before the window slams shut? Not sure that Barton would accept the challenge with us. It will be interesting to see how this one develops, we usually keep things quiet when dealing with a player (despite the leaks) and then announce it on the offish. Odd that this has come out so early on in discussions. Certainly has the fans at odds. Oh.. and Geordies really don't want him to leave do they!!Perhaps that is a positive that some doubters should be looking at!!
Joey Barton Contract: 1. £60,000 per week. Bonus for staying up, reduction in salary if we go down. 2. Choice of any peg in the dressing room. 3. First dibs when the biscuit tin is handed round after training. 4. Agent to get £500,000 5. No tweeting. 6. No decking Adel. 7. No decking anyone (unless it's Rooney). 8. Not allowed to call Mr Warnock, "Colin". (To his face or otherwise.)
In his first two games this season I wont lie, hes been awful. Having said that he's one of my favourite players and will be a HUGE miss for us on the pitch and in the dressing room. Will be gutted to see him go, hes one of the last pieces of english grit we have left in the team.
I know Barton comes with serious luggage, but so too did Adel. His performances on the pitch consistently make him one of the top 5 english midfielders in the prem. He is very much the type of player you would perfer to play with than against. In our tight stadium with us fans behind him, i am sure we would grow to love him. I expect that several clubs will be in for him, perhaps even one of the big four!!!!. If we pull this off i will be very happy and it will def lead to more big players coming to us. PS rem once that Lee Bowyer was a bad boy too, and look how when he reached 30 he setteled down and was solid for the last 3-4 years.
I agree. An utter scumbag. And after the game agains Arse, a thick hypocrite too. How on earth he didn't get sent off for causing that scuffle too
Barton is on train to London with SSN reporter David Craig and already wearing hoops: - http://yfrog.com/kldzdzumj
