No, this is very true, sadly. A bit of a pisser that Hughton and Neil made our bed... but poor Daniel Farke is the poor Fiesling that has now got to lie in it.
Excellent summary, JMF. Like you, I've been hoping for a manager who would balance the day to day commitments with the longer term development of younger players and I think we have that now. DF was the first to give Maddison a start (Irvine brought him on as sub a couple of times but never started him) and how many managers would have kept him at AM and played Pritchard WR? With Edwards coming in, Cantwell might now go out on loan to get valuable experience like Jaiyesimi (another AM prospect) is getting at Grimsby. Though still only 17, Middleton is an exciting prospect in the Huckerby mold, as you say. With all of the other loanees coming back into the mix for next season the competition is going to be exciting. I posted an article about Godfrey and Morris's exploits against West Ham last night on the loanee thread. They almost pulled a shock - twice! As you say, Patience now needed.
It feels like that at times, Cromer, but 1950 can count on my support however much fire is coming in!
With my final post before Mrs1950 collects me ( been nice here today 16 degrees, no wind and blue skies - like that in Cromer is it? ) can I return to future signings. I see a lot of French football both live and on TV and there are a lot of promising youngsters about in France who have not as yet broken through into first team football so I hope DF and SW don't just concentrate on Germany.
No at int, bor!! Ass the opp'site. But on your other point, if you need a hand scouting remote backwaters like Nîmes, Troyes, Saint-Étienne and say, Dijon then I have (or had ) 'o' level French on my C.V. (Seriously, I adored Nîmes, Arles, and loved Avignon & the Camargue delta in my short visit to the region )
Sorry Rick, but 'the pedant' in me has to correct - GM was 18 on Jan 1st!!!!! But as you rightly say, he has picked up a LOT of DH's traits, as he was his mentor for several years. Edit - GRRRR8 analogy too 'the trenches' Cromer and I hadn't seen that mentioned earlier
Must be a big disappointment to the waitresses when Mrs1950 comes to collect you. Nice to know we have an agent on the alert in France though!
Such a shame Sir Robert Winston didn't select him as one of the the children to study for 'Child of our Time'
Nice Twitter tribute to Russell Martin from Madders: "Great signing for Rangers! Will be missed at NCFC very much!” Maddison said on his personal Twitter account. “Top, top captain and friend. Hope NCFC fans realise how brilliant he is and has been to this football club.”
The 'Plagiarism' will be in touch!!! I posted it last night!! https://www.not606.com/threads/general-football-thread.308147/page-421#post-11344763 #8401
Just seen this on Sky Sports website: 16:33 HEARTS SECURE NAISMITH Hearts have pipped Rangers and Kilmarnock to the signing of Norwich forward Steven Naismith, according to Sky sources. The 29-year-old is out of favour at Carrow Road and will sign a loan deal until the summer. Naismith, who has 45 Scotland caps, is expected to travel to Edinburgh tomorrow for a medical. Hearts hope to have international clearance in time to have Naismith registered in time for Sunday’s Scottish Cup tie against city rivals Hibernian – a match you can see live on Sky Sports.
