I suspect that, until fairly recently, the deal was alive.............. or at least had a pulse. For neither party to say absolutely nothing tells me that they were talking. Obviously something was proving to be a sticking point and it was then a matter of who blinked first. I suspect that AS has walked first and thats why MA has suddenly released a statement. An attempt to contain the **** storm. Ashley wanting too much or inserting unreasonable clauses? Staveley trying to 'steal' the club or inserting unreasonable clauses of her own? Who knows. Nice bit of publicity for someone that nobody had ever heard of for a few months................ and yet another reason for a certain Cockney not to have to commit fully to another transfer window............... and a free curry............ win, win, win!! I see lacklustre signings in this window, Rafa walking at the end of the season, regardless of which league we are in and more of the same from Ashley for the foreseeable.
I have said before did he really want to sell This has all the hallmarks of the last 'attempt to sell - free publicity
A lot of people believed what they wanted to hear, without an ounce of substance behind the rumours. For heavens sake, stop believing all the crap that's written in the press and on the internet by people or organisations who know absolutely **** all. . Wishful thinking won't sell the Club.
I knew it wasn’t going to happen. Nothing good ever happens to us! Oh well, onwards and downwards we go.
The chronicle reports a big lodged and the deal off within 3 hours of each other. A mate just sent me this link though.
Unfortunately Ashley has left the table, walked out of the front door, down the street and into the nearest pub ................. where he is currently doing a bare chested conga around the bar before heading off for a double portion of cheesey chips a lamb kebab and a vomiting session. Don't worry lads .................. its all in safe hands!!
I gave up expectations of a takeover anyway. Ashley doesn't want to own us particularly (though is getting plenty of free advertising from us in the meantime) but his valuation of the club is likely to be prohibitive and in fairness that is his call. We can want him to sell it for less but it's his money and he's a businessman who is entitled to hold out for more. He wont give one single **** about us not being happy and he has never claimed to really.
I think with the fans, the feeling is probably universally reciprocated. He must have a thicker skin than a pachyderm, just sell up and go Ashley, you've more than had your time here.
Apparently PCP only learned of the deal being off through the media - granted its the Chronicle reporting it but wouldn't be surprising as we are run by a bunch of chimps...nay amoebas, that's too harsh on the chimps.
If true, that may suggest they may be able to resurrect the deal...maybe Ashley is now calling their bluff? But...who knows (other than Ashley and AS)?
