As much as I feel for them having their dreams shattered, they made it this far and were deemed not good enough by a succession of managers, many youngsters don’t make it I believe it’s about 1.5% of all who try who become pros, these two aren’t youngsters anymore and we are having to cut our cloth to the bare minimum ( FFP ) need to start shifting dead wood and unfortunately Petrasso and Greco-Cox fall into that category. As in every walk of life if you are no good at your job, can’t do what you were employed to do then you are let go it’s as simple as that, It’s harsh but it’s the reality in which we all live.
All very true. However, knowing how much I myself and my kids would have loved to have played at a professional level, I still feel for these guys. As you say, the vast majority of players, even into their 20s don't actually make it in the professional game. I would imagine that, once you've made it into your 20s, you would be very hopeful that you would make a career out of football. Sadly, most end up in non-league football or out of the game altogether. It's the world we live in, yes. I still feel for them.
I feel Chris Ramsey deserves credit with developing promising talent with the likes of Oteh, Eze, Smyth and Chair. Despite his obvious limitations as a Manager, Holloway also deserves some kudos for giving them a chance (albeit I hope they don't end up in a Ryan Manning situation). Aware it's very early days for the 4 of them, but it's nice to have the players to work with, and producing players is what will keep this club both stable and competitive. What looked like an unbalanced and tired squad is now turning into one with a bit of youthful exuberance to supplement some experienced Championship players. Main area of concern remains the defence, Jack Robinson has been exceptional, Grant Hall sorely missed, but I'd like to see us achieve some stability in those positions. Lynch is injury prone and suspect, Perch isn't getting any younger, ditto Onouha.
I know a family that host the newbie youngsters. Full bed and board and £500 pcm which effectively is pocket money. I was told that with their first 'paycheck' it's off to Westfield to hit the designer shops. To be fair, £500 in a designer shop in Westfield won't go that far.
According to West London Sport (David McIntyre): "Ariel Borysiuk and Jay Emmanuel-Thomas are among those not in manager Ian Holloway’s plans. And a number of young players will be told they have no future at Loftus Road and should go elsewhere. They include midfielder Brandon Comley, who could make a permanent move to Colchester United, where he is currently on loan. “You have to get the balance right,” said Holloway. “We’ve got far too many players and I’ll be doing a little bit of a cull, because if you’re not getting fresh and coming through then you need to move on. So you’ll see over the next few days that some will be released because they’re in the way. Hopefully that will give us a fresh impetus and then we’ll see where we go.” Those three names all sound logical choices and Ollie's approach must be he right one.
Have we got back up for Scowen in the development squad? Borysiuk should be his natural replacement, but wasn't used when Scowen was suspended. Luongo moved back and the whole midfield was below par.
Ollie waffled in pre-season about how good Borysiuk had been in training, and he was like a new signing, but by my reckoning, he's only made 2 appearances this season, both in the Carabao Cup so Ollie obviously doesn't fancy him. Whether he's failed to settle, or just can't fit into the team shape, we'd be better off shipping him out to free up some space for some young blood to come through. JET can get to **** (sorry TeD), a waste of a signing, we've allowed this waste of finances to bleed us for all he can get for too long - bad attitude within the dressing room (if he ever turns up) and not that good on the pitch either. Comley isn't going to make it at Championship level, so good luck to him with Colchester.
To be fair, it was posted on some random twitter account and I haven't seen anything else about Luongo going anywhere, so it's probably a load of old bollocks. Some of the responses to it have made me laugh though ...
I think Manning would be the back up, he's been playing in a deeper CM role for the U23's. Also don't see why Cousins couldn't play that DM all action tackling role either.
here's a thought...Bristol City dumped JET on us and they flew up the table........maybe the same thing could happen to us??
Good to hear Manning is playing there, think it's a position where you need a good eye for what is going on around you. Haven't seen much indication of that in Cousins, but a little in Manning.
There is another U23 game arranged for this Friday, which would be four U23 games in 2 weeks. Apparently his happens during the transfer window so Ollie can put the players on show that he wants to sell/release. Also, all of our senior scouts are out watching other U23 games. Perch, Jet and Ariel were summoned to arrive at the training ground yesterday to travel with the U23 for a friendly against Ipswich.......
And there's a Development Squad match against Chelsea at Cobham on Thursday, Ross Barkley will be playing for the Scum... http://www.westlondonsport.com/chelsea/qpr-ross-barkley-friendly-160118
