I think i would like to watch a saints game in a pub with you. I'm willing to bet that if we were playing **** and getting turned over you would lose your ****. I think every fan would that is what being a fan is, showing passion is what makes fans fans. On here its easy to come across as cool and calm because its not real life and nothing is in real time.
Let’s do it. You’ll be surprised. I either sing and sing, or I sit and watch quietly. If I take my annoyance out on anyone, it could be the referee (sorry Tom). I don’t lose my **** at the team.
Having sat next to him at a few games I can vouch for Fats here. What he says is spot on. Now his Dad...
Fair enough, Surely though if the team performance is poor and there is an obvious lack of effort from the players (which i have seen plenty of times this season) then there must be a part of you that inside is getting frustrated and needs to come out, its only natural. If you do't feel this then for me it shows a lack of caring.
In fairness, I've had whispered conversations on the tactical front at games with Fats where we both agree someone is playing like an arse. But there's no losing one's ****. I don't lose mine either, though I'm more inclined to have a good old vent on here at times like this.
I cheer and jump around in the good times (sadly rare now), but faced with catastrophe I yell 'you stupid idiots' (when at home) or sit silently in despair (when at the match). I could never yell at the players at the match because they couldn't feel any worse....not a deliberate decision, just something I do automatically.
I disagree hugely with the 'thats what a fan is' comment, not losing your **** doesn’t mean you don't care. I'm also the opposite to your last sentence and much more likely to vent on here than in the pub/ground where I very very rarely vent at the team. Refs are different
I think how you react to disappointment is down to your character not how much of a fan you are. I am usually calm or very sad....I have only got enraged in adulthood on a couple of occasions....you wouldn't want to see me angry. The angriest I have got with Saints (and even that wasn't real rage) was when they let a 3-0 lead go in a cup match (but we mustn't mention that).
I think the only time I've been ridiculously angry at a match in recent times was Be'er Sheva last year.
What??? Why have you been waiting? Get him down there man Took mine at 3/4 and then his first away game at 5
Yeah I've been thinking either end of this season or beginning of next. His first away will be Millwall next year
That's the idea... See some people with tablets but not keen on that myself, to easy to lose himself whereas at least with sweets he'll still be semi focussed on what's going on.
I think evolution will eventually do its thing and wash that gene out down the line. Survival of the fittest.
The risk for me is waiting until a game we will definitely win - hence I'm not sure when I can take my son. As at that age, if Saints lose, they're bound to start supporting whoever the opposition is!
Nah he doesn't have a choice This is the lad who was singing que sera sera nearly a year ago and now is obsessed with the Lemina song... Poor kid doesn't stand a chance
