I'm not at all sure about Edwards (or Chris Martin). If he doesn't have the right attitude and character, I don't want him. We have our own youth to bring along. Does this mean that Cantwell, who I thought was going to be Pritchard's replacement, will be going out on loan? In spite of that, Pochettino is showing a lot of trust in Farke.
I've just had a HORRIBLE thought - could that be a 'sweetener' to get JM to sign for Spuds on the cheap????
I wondered about that too, JMF, but I think it would be the wrong club for Madders. Who knows what's going on in peoples minds right now?
Really? I thought Spurs would be a good club for JM because they do have a young squad and he fits in with the way they play.
It's for sure that he'll go back to Spurs saying 'for sure'. Seriously, this was the bit from DF that I liked: "Marcus has got a very good education at Tottenham and is rated as one of the biggest talents in English football. He is able to cover several positions in our attack, and because of his technique, creativity and ability to win one-against-one situations he offers us new opportunities. We are happy that he gives us new options in our offence." Edit: Why would they need Madders as well?
Wherever he goes, Madders will want first team football. Of course he's been successful wherever he's been, so it's not for me to underestimate him.
I know the question has already been asked but as yet I've still to see an answer, virtually everyone apart from carrowcanario has said that CJ is not good enough and about the same number of people questioned the logic of signing YW, yet now they are being shipped out our coaching staff are stupid to get rid of them. Someone please explain it to me, talk about damned if you do and damned if you don't!
I don't think they are stupid for getting rid at all. I worry that we need at least one striker in as replacement for CJ. but as with Yannick neither are featuring in the first XI both will be on better than post parachute wages, it's logical clearing of the decks. The worry is the level of replacement we will get in. Jerome is past it, but given Oliveiras on going struggles I can understand people questioning selling our only other striker. It strikes me as stupid to leave yourself with only one misfiring striker option. But its only stupid if a replacement is not lined up and will be available with no more than a game or two missed. After Chelsea maybe he'll feel he has a plan B with Josh and now Edwards? Bah!
So, despite having been in the top flight for 4 years out of the last seven, we already have to resort to picking up freebies that Barnsley no longer want. Just like Ipswich have done / will do for years. Just shows how astute our board really are at running a football club. Freebies, loans and cast-offs.....yippee, way to go!
It could be viewed as a shrewd move, as with Derby currently in 2nd place, having a striker who can knock in a few goals against other teams MAY help us to sneak up the table as long as we can maintain the energy and togetherness that the team showed against Bristol. Edit - I hope there's a clause in his contract so that he can't play against us in a few weeks. PS - He's probably on quite a high salary compared to more recent recruits as well If a normal company had been mismanaged in a similar fashion, they'd have gone out of business years ago!!
I think Watkins was a free transfer from Barnsley. This in itself should have led to some doubt about his capabilities, surely? But he cost nothing other than wages, so he was bound to get a look in.
Like what he says! I guess its not quite as cut and dry as that. Woatkins had scored a few and seemed a semi decent player at Barnsley, He was got before I think we had Farke n place and looks wrong for our system. He actually just looks complete Gash but he would hardly be the first to come to City and suddenly look crap inspite of other previous evidence. Do I see him as an option up front? No he isn't good enough. Does Farke see him as an option? Looks unlikely after a few chances in the team, Even Josh has been played up top ahead of him. I have a horrible feeling we have another immovable reserve who is on wages as a result of being a free that no one else will match for a player of his limitations. Maybe that doesn't do Webber enough credit, maybe his wages are in line with his ability? but if he isn't gone by next season I think it will be another mistake. Bah!
You say Watkins is not an option because he is not good enough, most on here say CJ is not good enough so what is the difference?
