Apparently we want to loan mini Messi from Spuds and are in pole position ahead of Leeds. " Norwich City have emerged as leading contenders to seal a loan move for Tottenham’s highly-rated teenage midfielder Marcus Edwards." Bah!
Now confirmed City have signed Marcus Edwards on loan from Spurs https://www.canaries.co.uk/News/2018/january/marcus-edwards-joins/ https://www.canaries.co.uk/News/2018/january/in-profile-marcus-edwards/ https://www.canaries.co.uk/News/2018/january/marcus-edwards-interview/ Hopefully the first of many & hopefully we'll get a permanent one in soon (preferably a striker)
Some brief info on the new loan signing: An England youth international at various levels, he formed part of the Young Lions squad which won the European Under-19 Championships last summer. After completing his temporary switch to Carrow Road, Edwards told Norwich City TV: "I'm really excited and can't wait to help the team. "I like to get on the ball, take people on, create things and score goals. When I spoke to the manager, he made me feel welcome and explained how he wanted to play."
Very talented youngster. Hope he does the business for you. Some issues with tracking back and he lacks senior experience, but he's extremely skillful and dangerous. Does things like this:
So we have another midfield player! Is he a Maddison replacement? Looks like one misfiring striker left so let’s celebrate our new acquisition. Meanwhile, back at the ranch........................
£Ms of talent sold (and probably more before window closes), and we’re supposed to get excited about a kid on loan from Spurs who if everyone is being totally honest they have never heard of. Ok he may be half decent but I hate and despise the loan system as all it does is enable the ‘big’ clubs to hoover up all the talent. If I had my way I would abolish the loan system completely and go back to the old days when if you got injuries, tough you play the kids !
I also felt that this could demotivate Cantwell and others, but apparently he can play in 3 different roles (presumably on either flank as well as an AM). Bit of a like for like with Pritchard then? I'm also concerned about the lack of tracking back mentioned (another Redmond?). That was a problem with Pritchard when he arrived, but he improved through coaching. As a loan, it seems a bit of a 4 month stopgap until our own young players return from their loans (which is a positive for them). It does give us another option though and a new player coming in and allows us to concentrate on other positions needed.
Marcus has huge potential. Left footed. More of a Maddison role. Good to have him in, coz we are desperate for attackers. A shame it's only a loan, and not an out and out Winger or Striker, which we need. He should add to our attack and he certainly is a player who could make something from nothing. Bit of pace which we have just lost in Wildschut.
We have needed to sign strikers in so many windows and we are now down to one, who also looks like he doesn't want to be here after how the manager treated him. This is mental. 1.5M to a side probably going to get Automatic Promotion!? What is wrong in our club that the sides doing so much better than us, want our "not fancied" players!? And we just let them have them so cheap!?
Say what you want about Camjam but he always cared and tried his best. He may have needed a lot of chances but he always gave his all in yellow and green. Respect Cam and thanks for all your efforts!
Jerome cost us £1.5m four years ago when he was 27. He's now 31 (32 in August) and nearing the end of his career. If Derby get promoted, then we get £2m. I like him a lot and will miss him, but as long we get in a quality striker to replace him then it's good business.
I don't think we'll see Maddison leave this window, maybe in the summer. I don't care if we get some loans in as long as they give it their all, only thing I will be disappointed in is if we don't get a striker or 2 in.
My principal concern is away games, where Oliveira seems to struggle to provide an outlet. Though not scoring enough goals, at least Jerome is effective at harassing defenders and holding up the ball until others arrive. If someone like Jaime Mata (6'1") can do that and score goals as well for a similar price, then we should be better off. That will be the most important signing of this window and should be our top priority.
I must be a mind reader. Apparently Chris Martin is 4/1 with the bookies to come to NCFC - second favourites. Perhaps somebody read my post and decided to start a rumour? Anyway, back at the ranch..........................
Martin is another possibility. It would be a gamble, but could work. Not sure he's SW or DF's type of player though.
Didn't he spill someone's pint in Kenninghall in 2011 or something ? We don't need trouble makers like him.
