I’m more bothered about where our money disappears to. We have PL money and we are getting outspent by a few championship teams. Feels wrong.
I would say be very careful believing what people tell you. When Gullit left in 1999, a former lord mayor of Newcastle who I knew told me that Terry Venebles was to be the man to replace him. He even told me to stick money on him. This former lord mayor was very pally with the then powers-that-be at our club. It was all a smokescreen, or maybe even a lie, because Sir Bobby got the job. I don't know whether they (the powers-that-be) just enjoyed kidding people or whether they were getting people to bet in order to bump up the odds on Sir Bobby (so they could have an easy killing with the bookies). Be careful what you believe. (And yes, you should believe this! )
Don't need man City money just some money would do and rid us of the fat ****ing **** house **** of a owner.
This. Progressive building, including money spent on new training facilities and the academy would be fantastic. I look at what Liverpool have done since FSG bought them and think there's no reason that can't be the model to look at. One or two big signings every season, sell for top money and use it on one or two high end replacements, strong commercial deals - why not?!
A good mate of mine Arthur Bishop is a mechanic and he's going to discuss the takeover with Ashley this evening. I'm having a few quid on there being new owners soon.
Let's stick with what we do know... Mike is a gambler and I reckon he's more than willing to sit back and hope that Rafa will keep us up. With uncertainty removed and more cash from Sky, our value will actually increase to nearer £400m. If he is effectively buying back shares then with ongoing advertising for free... he'll gain a lot more long term. Don't forget that there is no such thing as bad publicity so all this takeover talk... the impending fan meltdowns... the protests etc... do nothing but elevate the profile of SD... So whether he sells or doesn't... he'll win. Decent odds for a well know high stakes gambler.
Amanda should challenge Mike to a game of two-up for the club, with an oil field as her stake. That way, either Mike loses ownership (we win) or he becomes a sheikh (he hopefully becomes less tight since his money would be coming out of the ground - we win).
A friend of mine has got a good pal who works for a financial company in London that have ties to SD and he told me that they get their lunches subsidised, £1.50 for anything you want........oh wait sorry, I’ve gone off track, he knows **** all about the takeover is what I meant to say
Another point made; where the **** is the Fun88 money? Weren't we supposed to have some lucrative new deal with them which would change the game? Where's that ****ing coin?? Someone on Twitter made the point that NUFC has actually cost Mike Ashley, for his decade of being a ****, around £4m - and that's without factoring in the free advertising. Any money he lends is owed back, he doesn't actually spend, at a loss, his own cash. Simply put, he doesn't see his ownership as a disaster or a burden.
Maybe some chaps on this board have more of handle about the accounts than me, but I've always felt that when profit is made on selling our best players, that the profits never seem to go on similar value players. So the money is going somewhere. It probably only amounts to about £20-30m a season. But I can't see why we're so poor that we can't compete with any club. I would suggest that if there's no player investment by the end of this month, then Rafa will walk. If zero spending is how it pans out, then that amounts to a drawn out humiliation of the man. And unless Rafa has a gambling addiction and is infact broke, his pride (and also his confidence in finding a new job) will make it an easy decision to call it a day.
Maybe I need to take off my rose tinted glasses but I can’t see Rafa walking out on this group of players/fans mid season. End of the season if the takeover hasn’t/isn’t happening? Sure.
I just wish this was over either way ffs its draining me... Either sell it ya fat ****ing prick or come out and say your not you stinking sack of ****e.
I fully expect an announcement on 1st Feb explaining that takeover talks have collapsed. The protracted nature of the talks will be touted as the reason for a lack of January signings. Rafa will stick around (because it will cost him £5m to walk) but we will effectively go into free fall and get relegated second from bottom. End of season and Rafa will leave 'by mutual consent' and Nigel 'no nonsense' Pearson will be brought in to 'instil some discipline' into the team. You heard it here first folks.
For what it's worth, I don't think we'll go down either way. GD is usually a great indicator and Stoke, Swansea and Hudds all have -20 or worse. Also I recall last year we spoke of a statistic that Rafa Benitez teams always get better as seasons progress - can anyone remember? You just think 'hasn't Mike Ashley got better things to do than this?'. All any of us want at this stage is an end to uncertainty. Whether there's an impasse and the deal is on hold, whether it's done, whether it's dead I don't think any fan cares - we all just want some kind of answer. Was thinking, randomly, earlier "I wonder why someone like Mitrovic isn't in the Serbian press shooting his mouth off?" That thought has now turned into "are we holding onto players through fear, in the sense that if we sold someone we could have no more hold over them in terms of what they say? Is that why Barnes is blocking everything that's happening??" It's very possible. As was said earlier an allegation that Bob Moncur's son claims the deal is done - made me wonder where the fck Moncur's been? He has a regular in the Chron, yet has disappeared since the takeover **** began. It's frustrating as hell with this **** running over and over, looking for clues wherever you can, but the above again screams 'takeover' to me.
Express are claiming PCP have tabled a bid in excess of 300m!! https://www.express.co.uk/sport/football/905142/Newcastle-news-Amanda-Staveley-Mike-Ashley-EXCLUSIVE-Rafa-Benitez
