If that is what you truly believe to be the case then you are, politically speaking, an even bigger plum than I thought was possible. Or should I say orange? Racist, bigoted, science denying, nepotistic, narcissistic, sexist, misogynistic, elitist, environment destroying, hypocritical, ignoramus "ass-hat" that he is. There are no saving graces about that man, nor those ultra religious fascist gits (not to mention "Uncle Tom" Carson) that have used Orange45 as a populist figurehead to spearhead their C17 theocratic agenda.

Unless you're a 'Murican, southern Baptist, closet (or otherwise) white supremacist, with $millions in the bank then one has no business supporting this muppet who will quite possibly end us all while his supporters await the second coming and rapture. They make me sick to the pit of my stomach.

Yup. You can also take it that I don't like anyone who does like him.

Only that many? That's a relief.
Of my many American friends and family only one I know of is a drumpf supporter... she's a white, fundamentalist southern baptist, multi-millionaire, not particularly endowed between the ears.... y'know, fits the profile.

The whole model for providing public services needs to be looked at again when you see just how far the government has become entangled with Carillion. Anyone who has been in business could see the warning signs months ago,yet the company was still winning contracts for billions of pounds. No doubt the government will be called to account in the coming days, quite rightly, but it says a great deal about their competence to have let the situation develop this far.

It could be the government were conscience of the loss of jobs if business was precluded from them, these things are never as easy as some would imagine.

Although 20,000 are employed directly there could be as many again indirectly relying on the company. It is always the smaller companies that take a hit, if they supply plant or people under these circumstances. They have already been told that there will be no money for them, so the total effect could be huge.

These are decisions that small business owners face daily, how much credit to give customers. There can only be so much due diligence, sometimes you take a punt and hope it comes off.

Thankfully this is happening in the UK where new jobs are created much quicker than most of the EU.

Momentum's stranglehold over the Labour Party is now complete with the three far left candidates elected to Labour's ruling National Executive Committee. The vast majority of moderate MPs and councillors will feel their days are numbered.

I spent most of my working life within the construction industry and know very well how tendering for contracts proceed. There is a push to put in the lowest price with the notion that you can make savings, often at the expense of sub- contractors. What we are seeing is nothing new, just a more spectacular scale of disaster. The race to the bottom can only go so far before this type of failure happens. If the government were keeping a close watch since the alarm bells started to ring as claimed, they have failed big time.

Private companies are solely responsible for getting their costings right. It is their responsibility for ensuring the legalities are correct and their bids result in a sufficient profit. Even the larger companies need to hedge their bets on the risks they are taking on.

The problem in this case is that it is public services that are involved and they have to keep running. So the contracts can be put out to tender again, but they will be more expensive, and it is the tax payers who will pick up the bill.

Absolutely! The mind-blowing stupidity of allowing profit-driven organisation to be involved in operations that people depend on for their lives. Get the ‘private sector’ OUT of our health social care education and public transport sectors! This shambles should spell out even to our stupid government what should happen.

Well if the company failed because the tender was commercially undercharged then the next tender will be naturally higher. There is nothing wrong with this.
