Stuffed Swan with humble pie for desert.

Nice to see our lads dig in and fight to the bitter end, even in the League Cup. What a breath of fresh air from last season. Nice to see Cowie and Conway get a few aswell, very positive result.

I think the result says as much about the desire in the players as it does about the quality of the squad. I know huddersfield are in a lower league but when did that ever matter in a cup match?
some of the people brought in to rest first team players onviously took it as an opportunity to remind MM that they are ready and waiting. Can't be a bad thing in my book, and if we Get Man U or someone decent in the next round they'll have earned their win bonus hands down.

Huddersfield fans must have thought they had won at 3-2 with minutes left!!

Noticed Terry McDermott (liverpool legend) was there and got his autograph and Alan Lee's.

Great value for just a tenner. Great game.

Didn't do much good for my blood pressure!!!

Thought the crowd was poor but so many games in a short time not surprising.

I think the game last night will echo our season, so hold on tight it’s not going to be for the feint hearted.

Well done to the Huddersfield fan with Swansea connections for posting such an unbiased and fair report. <ok>

I think I saw him chatting to the ticket office guy before the game as I came out with my Pompey tickets..

Congratulations also to Huddersfield and their fans who made a good noise for 200 or so.

Good to see Huddersfield's own never say die attitude. Okay they weren't in the game until Quinn dropped his bo££ock but then they grasped the opportinity with both hands. We should have scored more in normal time to put it beyond doubt but they came back fighting every time and even at 4 - 3 Alan Lee had a chance to draw level again. The 5th eventually killed them off but all credit to them they got stuck in and made a game from a match which had seemingly passed them by.

The deficiencies in our second string back 4 were fully emphasised with Gyepes and Keinan getting a real run around second half mainly due to the talents of Lee. Gyepes in particular will know this morning that he had his own little war on the pitch. Lee made a real difference for them winning much in the air and holding up the ball well on the ground to bring Rhodes and Ward into play. Does anyone else, like me, think he could have made a major difference for us if we had brought him back as cover for Both 2/3 years ago?

This Carling Cup stuff is good, 2 games, 4 hours of football and 12 goals - great value for money.

How about Man U or Man C away next game? A trip to a really big club and a nice little earner - assuming we get a share of gate money from Carling games? Or another lower div side at home to show these newly promoted Prem teams how to beat Div 1 and 2 clubs albeit after extra time. <doh>

How about a battling draw down here with a BIG team, good experience for the team, then go to Old Trafford, or the Emirates, where we don't disgrace ourselves, and get a big payday?

The team selection underlines the lack of options we have out wide. Every other position changed from the weekend.

Yes Man City would be nice, Bellamy can travel with them wearing a Cardiff shirt.

Agree with your post BfB, their fans done them proud.

Quinn's made a right dog’s ear of it for their 1st goal, the back 4 gave me nightmares after that. I thought Rails done well and Darcy had some good moments. I thought Rudy did well but seemed to lack composure in front of goal, once he gets his 1st he might settle down and get a hat full. Cowie must have a big heart never stopped running. The beast took his goal well and played quite a few layoffs.

In our defence, and I am not condoning what Paul Lambert did, we actually fielded a genuine 2nd XI team.
ok it can be argued we still should have put up a better fight and I would agree with that but I cannot say for certain but I feel there are other factors that might account for such a bizarre scoreline last night. Honestly, I am not making excuses......

1. We played on Sunday so PL wanted to rest those players and that is fair enough.
2. Most of that team were part of the Championship team last season and should be good enough to play a part in the PL BUT I truly believe they might have been instructed to not be too physical in their approach to lessen the possibility of injuries.
3. Those player that did play might not be 100% match fit yet, where as most MK Dons players have had 4 games under their belt.
4. This is the biggest influence - PL survival is the No1 priority, it has to be, hence the 2nd reason I stated - no injuries, no bookings, no players sent off (for a change)
