I wouldn’t go in defensive. Get the ball in behind their full backs and keep them turning the other way. As long as we don’t over commit forward and keep one of the CDMs in front the CBs for protection, that could work.
And make sure that Tadic or Boufal, whoever starts, doesn’t get sucked back into an over defensive role. They have to be the out ball, the hold up player allowing support to get forward or the defence to reorganise, and the link with Long. No pressure. Another thing I would like to see, when we are under the cosh and balls are coming into the box. At least one player must stay outside the box to pick up headed clearances, or at least close down the opposition player who does pick the ball up. We are creating periods of relentless pressure, on ourselves, by having everyone in the box and no one outside to complete clearances or block shots/passes back into the danger zone, before we have reorganised.
With a raucous crowd behind us we can give anyone a go at home. It pisses me off seeing all you doom mongers moaning. Yes, i know on paper it looks bloody scary to play Spurs right now, but so what? Anything can happen; red card, dodgy penalty etc. You make your own luck, but you've got to put the effort in. That includes the supporters. **** Spurs and their ****y fans. We could really do with the odd unexpected point or three, otherwise it starts to make every game against another relegation candidate aka half the league, mahoosive, and even if we pick up in form, it's highly unlikely we'll win them all. A point in this one would be a good start. Three points would be huge. A loss is expected, so we can't really lose.
I think this thread shows what a complete mess we are in, none of us can really agree what line up, structure or tactics we should play and none of us are muppets (well...ummmm!).
