I'll hang on a bit til I bother buying FIFA18. Got so fcked off with how **** FIFA17 was I got rid of it. Honestly, the ridiculous method in Seasons whereby it just stops you playing - yet EA deny all knowledge of a "momentum engine" - is vomit-inducingly bad. And I've seen it happen to the oppo too, so it wasn't just that I was playing bad; I played against people who clearly knew what they were doing, yet some absurd pass mechanics, a few players falling over each other and hey presto I'm 6-0 up. Can't get into FM anymore. Played it loads about 10 years ago, but it just got too detailed and boring, can't bear to have such infinite amounts of detail and the tactics - sorry - they just don't fcking work.
You'd no doubt be wasting your time as things have hardly changed. One of those years where it felt like developers just went on holiday for 10 months and updated kits for the last two. It's definitely a thing and it's not the only thing. If you bought all the best players it wasn't a dramatic difference between you and a mediocre team, keeping things somewhat fairer, however this got leaked last year and all those paying hundreds were up in arms. So now If I play a team better than me I will lose despite them having 3 shots to my 20. It seems the opposite with FM, just had my first match of the season and beat Liverpool 5-1 with my 6 shots to their 24. That is just the kind of unrealistic escapism i need right now, Gayle scored twice Of course I forward on another week and a consortium is in talks to buy my virtual Newcastle......
I’m currently dying of man flu on the sofa playing Deus Ex mankind divided on the PS4. It’s a good game. Horizon zero dawn is easily the best game I have ever played. I love playing games it takes you out of your real life and into a world where you can do whatever the **** you want. A bit like Ashley in real life!
I love FM BECAUSE its so detailed. Currently got the Toon, 2 years in, into the Europa League, had a buyout by Fawaz Al Hasawi who use to own Nottingham Forest - took about 3 weeks to go through btw. Tactics wise I agree it is so in depth and there is the new squad dynamics (happiness) to consider now as well. Spend a fair bit of time keeping players happy but all a good laugh when people like Joselu are demanding playing time - GTFO of my club you useless prick.
Get yourself online! Nothing like grinding away for hours on end to get your favourite gun that leopard print camo.
I found my PS2 again the other day. In the machine was an old game called LMA Manager 2007. This was a staple time-passer for me a decade ago, and rediscovering this gem has cheered me up no end.
Or if you really want to take online gaming to the ultimate in distraction: learn to play Eve Online and then come back after one has mastered it...
I only just started playing FF12 (the original version) last night having bought it over a decade ago. I had a PS2 and about 5 games (just played Gran Turismo until my thumbs fell off) then didn't play it for ages. Got it out again to find it doesn't work any more (apparently this was pretty common with PS2's, they often didn't last in the way PS1's and most other consoles did). So I definitely did NOT illegally download a PS2 emulator and start playing my games on that instead, plus a bazillion other games which I have never owned.
PS Love FM, even though it isn't realistic. I've got FM17 as my most recent, I like taking Newcastle up from the Championship but it does take so much longer than my old favourite CM4 (from around 2002).
There's a PS 3 in my house somewhere and considering I'm off on the sick for another week I'm going to have to get it oot... Red dead redemption was a game I liked.
Got one in the basement hooked up to a projector. Not played it much but in an alternate reality where I have free time I'm down there binge playing Gran Turismo over the entire wall. I miss pre-children life sometimes.
I used to have a couple of games consoles, but then, about 20-odd years ago, I became an adult and got rid.
Spoilsport. Come on General, you got too old to play, you lost interest in it...I know the feeling (I'm talking about games consoles here before any of you start)
**** that. Being a full time adult sucks ass. If I don't have my occasional childhood regressions I'd probably go a bit "Falling Down".
I love games consoles. I was a Nintendo man originally. 8-bit, Super NES, 64, then I went Playstation, PS2, PS3, PS4. I have it sat there with plenty of games. I never play it really. Now and again I have managed a bit of F1, COD, PRO EVO, Rory McIlroy Golf. I had a big spell on COD about a year or so back. Other than that I just don't have the time.
