    Barclays Premier League
    Date - 22 January 2018
    Kick off - 20:00
    Venue - Liberty Stadium

Following a battling performance at St James's Park to gain a point against fellow relegation battlers, Newcastle, bottom of the table Swansea's next PL fixture is a home match against Liverpool.

Given the recent 0-5 hammering that Liverpool gave the Swans in December, this is huge challenge for Carlos Carvalhal's Swansea squad - if the Swans hope to avoid relegation they need to win the vast majority of their remaining home games, starting with Liverpool. A daunting prospect to say the least.

Disappointingly, we are almost half way through January and there has been no strengthening of the squad by the Swans owners and DoF - have they accepted that relegation is inevitable and are conserving cash?

Since, and including, their first match in a January 1936, the Swans and Liverpool have met on 42 occasions, with the Swans winning 11, Liverpool 23 and 8 draws.

In the corresponding fixture last season, James Milner's late penalty gave Liverpool a hard-fought 2-1 victory over Swansea.

Leroy Fer gave the hosts a first-half lead when he steered the ball home from close range at the back post after Baston Borja's knockdown from a corner.

Roberto Firmino levelled shortly after half-time when he headed in from Jordan Henderson's cross.

Milner netted the winner six minutes from time after Firmino was fouled.

Looking ahead to Monday week, I can't see our defence stopping Liverpool from scoring - and I can't see our attack getting more than possibly 1 goal. So my heart says 1-1, but my head says 1-3.

4 or 5 nil to Liverpool if they are in form. There is nothing I can see in our squad that is good enough to stop them hammering us.

Having watched that attacking performance from Liverpool today, I'll take losing 8-0 now <yikes>

After weighing up everything and finding no other option then i find it stupid to not believe in the positives and have more hope than anything else......I believe that Carvo can do it and he believes he can do it and to me that is a positive to have, So until it is mathematically impossible that we can stay up then he deserves to be backed by the fans even though the dreadful owners we have been landed with dont......Of Course whether we stay up or go down we will still be in the same situation but if we manage to remain in the premiership we have hope that fan power can begin to do something constructive and really fight to get our club back off these crooks.....

Watched the highlights (of which there many) of Liverpool v Man City.
    Three things struck me -
    1 - pace
    2 - suicidal defending
3 - the number of incidents that would have been given as free kicks in most of our games that the ref let go.

Don't get me wrong, there could have been another 4 goal last night and either side should take us to the cleaners by the game was just a bit bonkers.

One thing that amazes me, is the media that rates ‘Stones’ (I get the English bit), he’s so unconvincing to me. Weak and pathetic for Firminio’s..

We do struggle against teams that sit deep but not as much as we used to. I'd like to think we can build on 19 games unbeaten and win this as well. I'm not sure though as at this time of the seasons teams start to become desperate and you get some shock resukts. If we approach it right and don't get frustrated I'd be happy enough with 3 points and 0-1

I'll be shocked if you don't win this by 3 clear goals.
