according to the breaking news on Sky Sports News =============================== Newcastle allow Joey Barton to hold talks with QPR Barton spent five years with Man City before joining Newcastle for £5.8m Newcastle have given midfielder Joey Barton permission to hold transfer talks with Queens Park Rangers, the Press Association understands. The controversial 28-year-old, who joined Newcastle from Manchester City in 2007, is in the final year of his contract at St James' Park. He was made available for a free transfer in the close season after criticising the club's transfer policy.
Nooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo say it isn't true. Yeah he's a good player but we don't need his kind of attitude, he'll end up nutting Adel.
If Neil can control his little out brusts, I think it will be a great signing for us and a fresh start for Barton.
I think he probably a bit like Warnock - you can't stand him when he's against you, but love him as soon as he is on your side
Is true Warnock would have an ongoing job of making sure he does not knock seven shades out of Tarbs but it is undeniable that we would be a MUCH better side with Barton than without. Any negativity from fans around this deal will only harm the club. Let Warnock decide whats best and just support the team. Personally I would be delighted to have one of the best nidfielders in the premier league playing for Rangers
Newcastle fans are laughing off the prospect of Barton coming to QPR. He is on 65k a week so it would be a big change of wages policy. But he is on a free so could be the way to go with a 1 year contract and big relegation survival bonus. Maybe we are prepared to pay the money on wages instead of inflated transfer fees. A good short term strategy.
"Newcastle midfielder Joey Barton has been given permission to hold talks regarding a potential transfer to QPR..........." (SL site) W H A T! Sweet Jesus!............A thug/bully usually stays that way? Unless he's taking a few Shirley Temple pills............
I think Warnock has a thing about players with 'bad boy' images. Maybe he thinks his down to earth approach brings out the best in them. Maybe so, maybe not but is it worth the risk? I would certainly rather my club was not associated with players with violent backgrounds if possible. I know beggars can't always be choosers but are we still beggars? Put the effort into convincing Scott Parker to choose QPR Neil.
He's obviously allowed to talk to any club he pleases so it's not big news. I can't imagine he'll get on well with Taraabt mind...
Any club can speak to him, he's available on a free, he hasnt asked to talk to you. And £60k per week.
Seriously not going to happen, he could stay here for one more year easily. The only way he'd move to you lot is if you matched his wages, gave him a 4 or 5 year deal and showed genuine ambition and a good chance of survival.
just in.. Been confirmed that Barton is now in talks. Also season ticket holders to get a refund Under 8's to get in free
