yeah saints made sure he got no preseason and not much since. I think he's 2/3kilos over and has been playing rcb for them filling in and just not bothered.

klopp is going to have to work on his attitude.

I don’t think there was an issue with his attitude prior to the summer.

We have a player who was desperate to join us as well as a manager who was desperate to sign him. Which means we have a player who will run through brick walls for us.

theres always been issues with his attitude. every coach has said the same. its so easy for him he skates by. This is the first time he's at a top club so he can't skate by on natural talent.

He's all the attributes. Now klopp must make him into a top player and that means work.

He should have been at a top club by ages 23, the fact he ended up at celtc speaks volumes to how his attitude was seen.

klopp will love him as he loves oxo cube and of course wijnaldum.

We have 8 draws this season, the highest number of draw in the top six, the one that hurts most is the draw at home.
We must learn how to convert draws to wins.

When Van Dijk plays he scores as many goals as the team concedes

I think Klopp now realised the problem, in the summer we need another very good CB to complement VVD,

Karius even acknowledged that he is playing behind better back four. Simon Mignolet would wish he is in his position.

I suppose that’s why Klopp waited until we signed VVD before using Karius again.

Well we won’t have to wait too long to see how good our back four is.<whistle>

The reality is that our attack has been so good in some matches that our defence has not been tested. We’ve had some serious tests against the top 6 rivals. Spurs tested us and the defence (Lovren) crumbled. The mancs tested us and TAA and Lovren had a nightmare. City tested us on Tuesday and it stood firm.

The most severe test is upon us and let’s hope it will be solid.

It is interesting that Klopp's tactics work best against a certain system. Guardiola himself recognised that and said that they City were the perfect opponents for Liverpool. The high tempo and high line pressing work best with a side that pass the ball from the back. City pass the ball a lot in midfield and the hassling of the player in possession as well as those likely to receive the ball increases the rate of errors. We gained possession a large number of times against City in both matches by getting the ball in dangerous areas while they were trying to pass it.

However it does not work very well with long balls. The mancs had a field day by targeting TAA and Lovren with Lukaku winning headers and Rashford and others latching on to the second ball. High tempo pressing does not also work when the opposition refuses to attack and to keep or pass the ball in midfield.

AND it will be interesting to find out how Pep copes with that on Tuesday. Does he by-pass the midfield or at least give the ball quickly to the front men like Sane or Aguero without too much passing in the midfield? or does he keep the same system ?.

yeah but let's not confuse.individual incompetence with systemic failure.

    e.g.

long ball at lovren who gets caught in a stupid position or ox as the cm in question ball watching. ... or has being in a piss poor position failing.to recognise issue.

utd scored off a goal kick.. how is that high press issue.....

Exactly my point. High pressing does not affect those who kick the ball high up or defend en masse. You need quality players who can defend and not make mistakes.

If Pep start shooting long balls to Sane and Aguero, will our defence cope? Luckily they don't have a Lukaku, Kane or Ronaldo, target men who can make more use of long balls. Pep has already said he won't change his system. So we'll have take him at his word and assume that they will keep playing their normal passing possession game. Which will mean we could score the odd goal ...if Salah is playing.
