I refer you to text 6334, which explains the case - the Irish did not vote twice on exactly the same treaty. It had been substantially changed for the second vote.
No the eurocrats tweak it a bit to fool people like you whilst threatening the Irish over the bailout terms. Some are so gullible.
Gullible seems a good word for people taken in by Farage and his chums. I wonder if he would go for another advisory referendum, or would he prefer a legally binding one with proper percentages in place? Guess he is trying to distance himself from the chaos that most can see coming. What was a small remain lead seems to be growing with a good 5% difference now. Little wonder the Brexit fans are spitting feathers at him.
Of course he's silly. He knows he'd lose.... oh look, retracted....c'mon nazinige, put your money where your mouth is and let's settle this "unfinished business" - his words.
Even the 'remainer' Philip Hammond has reached the obvious conclusion. Political leaders and campaigners calling for Britain to reverse the results of the EU referendum should "stop harking on" about what amounts to an "illusion", Philip Hammond has said. The Chancellor accused European leaders of making "only backward-looking" statements such as, "are you sure you want to leave?" He also described EU fears that a generous deal for the UK could encourage other countries to leave the trading bloc, as "paranoia" - saying Brussels should do more to keep existing members rather than "threatening members who decide to leave". Mr Hammond's comments, during a visit to Berlin, follow persistent calls by some political figures for the UK to hold a second referendum on leaving the EU.
There may be a second referendum but it would need to be this year or early next year, and would involve a change in government in the meantime. We also do not know if Britain could now scrap Article 50 and return to the fold under the same conditions which applied before this sorry mess started. What would a second referendum bring us - a 52%-48% result in the other direction ? Would this solve anything ? It would divide the nation once again - a crude question such as 'yes' or 'no' only ever divides nations, and can paralyse politics for years to come. There may come a day when Britain votes for a government which advocates returning to the EU. possibly even to a 'changed' EU.
When Nigel Farage emerged from a meeting in Brussels with the EU’s chief Brexit negotiator Michel Barnier shortly after midday last Monday his increasingly gloomy mood had darkened further. “The message I got was that they will be happy to trade chocolate and cheese and wine freely with us but when it comes to services, forget it. It ain’t going to happen. I think we are going to have a very bad deal.” So where is the wonder deal that was promised? Why if they need us more than we need them has the panic button been pushed with cabinet ministers flying around Europe? Services are keeping the UK afloat, so it is not surprising that Farage is gloomy.
The EU intransigence is there for all to see. The eurocrats have well documented history of sacrificing parts of the EU for the sake of the delicate project. Let's agree to disagree and move on.
It's really poor form from the EU isn't it. Anyone would think it was trying to protect its own interests against a country hell bent on leaving. How dare it?!
For those missing the Daily Express. Brexit shock: No deal will cost EU £500billion PRESSURE was last night mounting on the EU to sign a free-trade agreement with Britain ...
We are just off to watch Winston Churchill give those Johnny foreigners what for. A bit decadent going to the cinema in the afternoon!!
Interesting that he was one of the first pioneers in calling for a European Union without borders, and with free movement of goods and people - he was also a fan of currency union !
Brilliant film - Churchill would not have tolerated the anti democratic control and nonsense of those in Brussels. He would be a firm Brexiteer given how far the original set up has deviated into the current EU mess.
Rather a lot of assumptions to be making about a dead man who can't answer back. His speeches indicate otherwise.
