Not agreeing with FLT's point of view. So it appears that at half time the manager tells the players to keep playing attacking and high pressing football and the players just ignore him and they sit back on the 18 yard line and there is nothing the manager can say of gesture to change their mind set. I believe they are instructed to sit back and defend. If this was the first time we had seen it I would give the benefit of the doubt to the manager but we see it every time we have a lead and I cannot believe the players take it upon themselves to play this way. We played so well if the first half and yes we were robbed by a someone who decided to cheat and a blind referee/linesman but it was the 90 minute and if we continued to play as we did in the first half it would not have mattered. After 5 minutes of Troy Deeney coming on you could see he was going to make a difference, that when a manager earns his wages and reacts to a situation to try and nullify the threat. How many offside decisions were there against Watford today? We did miss Cedric over the last three games as he makes the team more balanced when he is playing.
And that's the element of our grand plan for world domination that we most need to recover. The notion that we have an overarching way of playing football that we teach to our kids, that guides our transfers, that determines which managers we seek out. Les, rather absurdly, suggested that Pellegrino was here to bring back that identity of free-flowing, high-pressing football, which is something like hiring the Westboro Baptist Church to handle LGBTQ outreach.
Problem is without Shane Long today we would not have scored the second goal. You hardly ever see another striker work that hard to chase a 50 50 chance and turn it into a beautiful goal.
He has been far too slow to recognise that Forster should've been dropped and that JWP should be starting, not starting Boufal today is another baffling decision. His biggest failing by far is his inability to control match situations from the bench, he has been outmanaged by virtually every manager over the 90 minutes and has shown nothing to suggest that that is going to change anytime soon.
Haven't read the thread since about 11am, but seen their equaliser. When it isn't going for you it really isn't, that was so blatantly handball ffs No idea how we played, guessing similar to the rest of the season where we start well but fade? A point isn't terrible as that's fine away against other bottom half strugglers but gutting to do it in that fashion.
Me and you have been on pretty much the same train of thought and at around the same time all season to be fair!
Again great work from Shane... Who said he had a bad game? Exactly what I was on about the other day where he's justifiably keeping Gabbi out of the side atm.
What on earth is Bertrand doing for that second goal. His positioning is all over the place. To me he looks completely disinterested, questions marks over him for the first goal also
Absolutely, but he needs people up with him, he can’t play as a lone striker. That’s what went wrong in the second half.
Why are people complaining about the ref costing us the game when they should have had a penalty?? He was **** but not the reason we drew
Oh agreed for sure which is why I said I wouldn't mind Gabbi alongside or in one of the 3. But if we played Gabbi as a lone striker today those goals don't happen.
