Delighted with the result today and credit to the Manager for trying something different up front today - with both scoring. Malbec for me - just opened
Burton were the weakest side I remember seeing us play all season today, worse even than Birmingham, and still we didn't really dominate them (apart from the first 10 minutes or so) until Conor made it 2-1. From then on we were all over them. Apart from a collective switch off for the goal I thought the defense were solid enough, we gradually won the midfield battle and Luongo looked to be at his best as the game went on. Great to see him score again, we need more of that from him. Furlong strong in the air, did well, but he lacks the ability to cross balls into the box we have with Pawel. I should think if we went 4 at the back Furlong at RB and Pawel on the wing in front of him would give us a strong right side. Oteh did Ok up front after a bad miss early on and got his goal. Conor looked off the pace and kept going offside until in the 2nd half he hit the post and finally got to another great Freeman through ball and took his goal well. It was an important 3 points, the IPA is tasting better tonight!
He did, though his pass angled back to Luongo didn't look intended, it bobbled back as Washington fell over doing whatever he meant to do.
This is great news. Really happy with the result and I don't care if Burton are cr2p as it's about getting points and pulling away from those bottom 3. Still a long way to go but well done Hollow and the boys.
What can I say.... The beer was brilliant and £2.50 a pint The ***gots and peas were £2.50 were home made and delicious. Everyone at Burton were really friendly all 3000 of them (if we took 1400) And we only went and WON. and nice to meet you Wherever... hope you had a safe journey home...see you in Defectors next week??? Loved the moment at 1-1 when we sang "you must be **** as we are drawing away"..and they immediately came back as "you must be **** because we are drawing at home".... Not quite sure about the collective lighter lighting at 60 minute though...felt a bit like a Barry Manilow concert Sent from my STF-L09 using Tapatalk
Just got back myself good to meet you to Beth and Roller and Terry. My take is burton were not very good and probably will go down. Apart from 30 seconds after scoring our defence looked solid even Lynch did well. Robinson looks class. The whole team worked hard. Good for Conor to get a proper centre forwards goal, hope he gets more, boy he covered some ground today. We definitely should have had a penalty. I wish luongo would learn how to shoot. Smith did nothing when he came on. Why not practise free kicks during training, I counted three ideal free kick situations completely wasted. Beer was very good, but missed the ***gots, might need to go again. Supporters did well today over a quarter there were Rangers.
We made hard work of that but delighted we got a deserved result in the end. Burton were absolutely atrocious but I’m told by their incredibly polite fans (even post-match) that they’re a different team away from home. Credit to Holloway for making the Smith sub which had a big impact. At the time I’d have hooked Wash rather than Oteh but he took his goal very well, hit the post and always tried even if it didn’t come off. Oteh missed a great chance in the first two minutes but was very mobile and strong and took his goal well so maybe a proper player on our hands there. The midfield were crap first half but dominated more the longer it went on. Nice ball through from Freeman for Wash’s goal but the Burton defence was so slow and wide open I could probably have looked good in our team today. Defence was barely tested and we didn’t need five there. Lynch looked good apart from the ridiculous bit of play building up to his booking but again I think I could have played in our defence today and looked ok. The goal conceded was a complete shambles. Please give Furlong a run of games. A fun day overall. Bring back terracing.
After seeing the highlights Oteh seems big and strong. Great for the teenager to get a goal even if it was a bit unorthodox. Excited to see more of him, Smyth and Eze.
If I upset anyone with my earlier post, that was unintended. Which all goes to prove that maybe sarcasm IS the lowest form of wit. Apologies to all who felt offended. Off to consume some more alcoholic beverages.
