Desperate for 3 points, but a point away is more encouraging than a loss. And we have proved we can score....at one point we couldn't buy a goal. I do think we will limp to safety....we do have the players....just need to persevere and grind out every point.
Fact is Pellegrino can not react to changes done by the opposition. This isn't a one game thing this is a whole season thing. Imagine if we had a manager that could react to changes, we would be 8th.
Today was shocking second half. Pellegrino was clueless once they started the second half as they did, however the players still have to perform. It’s not football manager. There are two portions of blame. A HUGE chunk to the manager and a part to the players. You simply cannot ignore the fact that grown men, who are professional footballers, also failed to contribute second half. They need to show some guts in that situation. Just saying.
Remember when the story was that we were energetically wasteful in attack? We have registered more shots than our opposition just once in our winless streak, against Huddersfield.
Turns out that rather than being a repeat of Villa, it was something of a repeat of Boro (I know we didn't concede two late goals, but it was still being 2-0 up and conceding a last ditch equaliser). Sadly, where I think the comparison falls down, is that back in 04/05 we (a) made some signings in January, and (b) had a little bit of fight.
I don't get how some people can still have a go at people for moaning. We are one point away from the relegation zone
We were robbed. We have a manager who will probably get us relegated, but the fact remains - the level of ineptitude from Roger East is off the ****ing scale.
After 0 wins in our past 9 games, up against a side that have just 1 win in their past 9 - it is a must win game for both teams. A draw or loss leaves us 10 games without a win; I would say that is horrendous. Especially considering we have spurs up next.
Like someone blaming the whole second half on the manager and not a single % on the 11 players on the pitch? You’re angry I’m angry We are all angry. But you can’t have your cake and eat it in a discussion. If those ( not me I’ll point out) who point to the handball and not the penalty are in the wrong, then so are you for ignoring the players in this!
We shouldn’t need the manager to pull strings when we are up 2-0 at half. There’s a problem there beyond the manager. That said, even if the team SHOULD have been able to do it on their own, they couldn’t. What is a manager for, but to organize and motivate players in tough times? We played well first half, I notice Pellegrino isn’t getting any credit for that. We did play like ass the second half, so he can take the blame. I really do not think 1 point away from home is a bad result. Especially when we were blatantly robbed. There were some positives in this match. No that’s not sarcasm. JWP scored twice. Tell me how that’s not good. I do not think Pellegrino is going to get sacked midweek, so we can moan all we want about how bad he sucks or whatever, but we’re going to find out how he and the team respond. If they play like they did first half for a whole game, we’re fine. If they play like the second half.....
MP2 now has a worse record than each of the previous sacked managers in the premier league this season , but yet still remains in a job.
I didn't watch the game. I listening to the radio. But it very much sounded that in the first half, Tadic and JWP were forward thinking and close to Long. Whereas in the second half, Long was detached from the team, so deep and behind the ball were everyone. That stinks of managerial instructions to me.
This is why I never understand why so many people are against VAR. Yes it may slow down a game, but its for big decisions like this that are season defining. Much rather the game over ran by 10 minutes then miss crucial decisions, for either team. American sports have VAR down to a tee, and Tennis and Cricket do too.
Watford should have had a pen, we could have lost. The thing is this isn't a could of thing it's a we can't react to teams when they change it up.
Or, we were incredibly lucky that East didn't notice the blatant shirt-pull by Lamina, because if he did there's every chance we lose this. We didn't deserve to win anything here. Great first half, and then Watford had chance after chance, while we had nothing.
