Some other teams to keep an eye on today; Portsmouth (6th) ... winning 1-0 against Scunthorpe Rotherham (7th) ... winning 0-1 against Oldham Peterborough (9th) ... 0-0 away at Wigan Oxford United (10th) ... 0-0 away at Walsall
I'll be prime for a heart dance to, just turned 40, follow Charlton, up at 2am when i do...... Coffee in the wee hours to boot !
At half time... Portsmouth (6th) ... Winning 1-0 at home against Scunthorpe Rotherham (7th) ... Drawing 1-1 away at Oldham Peterborough (9th) ... Drawing 0-0 away at Wigan Oxford United (10th) ... Losing 1-0 away at Walsall
Full time, Bury 0-1 Charlton. Of all the teams competing for that last play-off place, Charlton were the only team to win today. Results could not have gone better for us, and we are BACK IN THE PROMOTION RACE! Get in!
At least the players have showed a bit of collective spirit today, it can’t have been easy after Holmes’ departure yesterday. Fair play to them all for that I have a feeling Robinson’s comments this morning may come back to bite him on the arse if RD finds out.
This. After the week we have had and the amount of players unavailable this is a good result. Quite easy for the players to jack it in.
Forgetthe politics - they guys on the field did the job. I also think it shows that they are playing for robbo. Leave all the other Bs to the other threads. This is a great result considering the conditions.
It's a result. Yes, there are conditions. But Bury are bottom of the table, with 4 wins all season and 17 points. We managed to beat them 0-1. I'm afraid I cannot agree with you that this is a 'great' result under any circumstances. Perhaps I am just splitting hairs. We could only beat what was in front of us on the day. But this 'result' was an absolute gimme, and it says nothing about Charlton's chances of hanging on to 6th place until the end of the season. Every bang average team and his dog is going to take 3 points off Bury, never mind the real promotion contenders who will be looking to fill their boots and boost their GDs as well.
With all the off-pitch antics I found it hard to get excited about this. The Holmes sale suggested we will be playing the secind half of the season with a lot of youngsters. And a 1-0 win at Bury...no big deal. But hey. We have more injuries than Shrewsbury have squad members. There is enough boardroom mayhem to sink a large ship, and our Belgian owner appears to want to sell the few tiny jewels we posess. To grind out the win is therefore worthy of a lot of praise. We now have another weeks' breathing space. A rumour on Facebook suggests Roland will be gone by next saturday. I wixh him nothing but misery and ill health - may he choke on his millions. If that happens, we still have a couple of days to reinforce our depleted squad. We may yet have a good week ahead. Fingers crossed.
Were Joe Aribo and Anfernee Dijksteel really among the best 11 players in League One last weekend? https://www.cafc.co.uk/news/view/5a...med-in-football-league-paper-team-of-the-week According to The Football League Paper they were. Blimey. If we ever beat a decent team again they'll be erecting more statues outside the Valley. What a team of Legends we have. They've got to be worth £100,000 each at least. Get 'em while they're hot! Buy one, get one free...
