Or last summer? When he had a medical? We already paid a premium to lock ourselves into the transfer in the summer. How much would we have had to pay if he just came in August?
Fans are acting as if they don't understand any of the business side of football. It's not rocket science. As someone said, would you pay £13m for a 6 month loan (for someone who is CL tied)? Also I agree that it CAN come across as panicky if we pay an additional £13m because Coutinho left.
You would hope that the Club had looked in to this before agreeing to let Coutinho leave if this is what Klopp was planning to do.
Said it before, rather throw that £13m at Goretzka or De Vrij as a signing on fee to secure them on frees.
Keita will improve our midfield, especially now that Coutinho has gone. We have to make sure we get top 4 again. As Saint said, if he contributes towards that, then it’s money well spent.
Probable line-ups Leipzig:Gulacsi – Klostermann, Orban (c), Upamecano, Bernardo – Keita, Ilsanker – Sabitzer, Kampl – Poulsen, Werner Absentees:Forsberg (stomach muscle), Halstenberg (broken hand) Coach:Ralph Hasenhüttl Schalke:Fährmann (c) – Kehrer, Naldo, Nastasic – Caligiuri, Meyer, McKennie, Oczipka – Harit – Burgstaller, Embolo Absentees:Insua (ribs) Coach:Domenico Tedesco Match stats Leipzig will leapfrog Schalke in the table with a win. Hasenhüttl’s gate-crashing troupe picked up 24 more points than Schalke last season. Leipzig have only lost once at home in the Bundesliga this season - their last outing, against Hertha Berlin. Schalke are unbeaten in 11 Bundesliga games (W5, D6) - their longest run for 11 years. Schalke conceded more goals (six) to opposition substitute players than any other team in the Bundesliga during the first half of the season. Schalke’s Guido Burgstaller and Leipzig’s Marcel Sabitzer played together at Rapid Vienna.
looks like smart business paying for Naby last summer, you would probably have to double it if you wanted him now (pre buy out clause)
I think you need to sign him now, as your top 4 position is hanging by a thread, with the way Spurs are now beginning to haul you in. You've just got 143m for a player and some of you are worried about 13m. All this nonsense about needing to settle in, is just that. Plenty of players hit the ground running in the PL. Let's not forget you are in 4th with Coutinhos considerable help, how are you going to sustain that form without him? If you don't bring in some players and spend that money then you won't get 4th, as Spurs team as it stands is better than yours IMO.
