I m not Boris ...just thought it was an amusing post...from Beef 'i love Willie Mullins and anything he does' Salmon
OK bud. If that's the level of humour you bring to the forum it's no wonder I've not noticed your posts before. Irrelevant is probably overstating them. Anyways you just keep reading mine closely
Don’t worry beefy I made the same mistake!! He has the breeding for 3m but just not the mind! One crazy ass bitch he is
No didn’t need Beefys bullish post! The horse is pure class, a complete nut case but you can’t fault his record and ability. And was certain he would end up there March!! But hey that’s racing you win some lose some
Yes very true...most trainers give an indication of where horses will be going at the festival but not Mullins where we play this 'guessing game' every year. Pathetic to be honest! Douvan is even still entered...why? And it doesn't sit comfortable for me that he trains for the ex greedy banker (17 million in shares anyone?) No wonder we all had to pick up the pieces eh and suffer with people like him and the various scandals/practices they were responsible for...
I like him! Forget what he’s done, he’s great for racing, he spends money buys good horses and will always be interviewed, not only that he will always give his POV in them and gives even the slightest of insights! Wish More owners were like Him
Triumph Hurdle Demopolis 33/1 He has not yet debuted here but his only race in France is striking. He won with good style, even when he was overcome in the last hurdle he came back with strength to finish. The most interesting thing about that race is that the third has won after and was third in a listed race and, above all, is that the fourth was We Have A Dream which is currently the second favorite for the Triumph, and was 3l behind. Maybe the worrying thing is that he has not run yet but I remember Zarkandar in 2011 so I hope he runs at once and let's see what he's capable of. I leave a link with your race at Auteuil, if it helps. http://www.france-sire.com/videocourse.php?idCourse=80746
I’ve never heard of the trainer that you mention but in an awful lot of cases he will not know what races his horses will be running in at the Cheltenham Festival until the weekend before - that decision is largely made by the owner or his management. The large owners don’t invest fortunes in bloodstock, employ people, at huge salaries, to manage their string, and then leave everything to the trainer! When he says he doesn’t know or is unsure in most instances that will be totally true. In essence the trainer is the ‘hired hand’ and will be told by his ‘employer’, the owner. What annoys me far, far, far more is trainers who give the impression that they decide everything when they don’t – making press statements that are wrong and misleading, re running plans, when the decision won’t be up to them. Colin Tizzard was the obvious example in the lead up to the ’16 King George VI Chase mulling in front of the media as to whether he was going to run Thistlecrack when he was never going to make that decision himself! Contrast this to Lieutenant Henderson who in the fortnight before the ’17 Cheltenham Festival was asked where one of his runners was going to go – ‘Haven’t a clue’, snorted the forum’s favourite trainer, ‘But the owner will tell me!’
I say, crew, some connections are cunning and bally devious aren’t they! Probably the best piece of journalism, re racing, that I’ve read for a while was ‘The Sporting Life’ highlighting just what connections where up to re Movewiththetimes and the 0-145 Novice Handicap Chase at the Festival. And I think his run last time, and the fact that he is now being aimed at it, concur their judgement. But I note they must be up to something similar with old boy Ballyandy. 2 runs over fences and his mark has now slipped to 145 (down 2 lbs). Expect him to have, how shall we say…ummmm… one more ‘quiet’ run over the big ‘uns (which he must do to fully qualify)and then be fully given his head in the Cheltenham race on 13 March. That 0-145 race (previously always run as a 0-140) certainly does seem to be inspiring some ‘roguedom’ this term. Are there any more cases, pilgrims?!? I deffo believe that in the highlighted race both Ballyandy and Movewithtimes will produce by far and away their best run of the campaign. Nudge, nudge, wink, wink, say no more…
I really don't see the problem with Mullins and his arrangements. He's not got any responsibility to punters. He's responsible to owners, his staff and his bank manager. What the hell does he care if Tom Sugden from Barnsley has had £25 each way on one of his horses in the Gold Cup? What does that matter? Who gives a ****... People don't seem to understand what it means to have an ante post bet. You sometimes get a bigger price but you take the risk your horse won't line up. Not just because of injury/loss of form etc but also because there's 26 races at the Festival and the team behind each horse is entitled to run in any of those races their horse is qualified for. I can't stand reading people moaning about it. If you don't like the way ante post bets work then don't do them.
He stayed on quite nicely when it looked like he could be swallowed up. The obvious other option would be the Fred Winter. Do you know if there's been a mark allotted yet?
I really do not know. I bet him almost two months ago and if I decided to put him here it was because I noticed that some money must have gone in because some bookies has reduced his odds from 33/1 to 20/1. It is a bet with risk but in my opinion I think that if you play an early bet it has to be at these odds or above 15/1 at least. Maybe he makes his debut and does absolutely nothing. I look forward to seeing him run to see if I have thrown the money in the trash.
I am not too bothered about ante post betting as I do not bet ante post as a rule. But in my view trainers should be open and transparent and there is nothing wrong with that. Often Mullins is the last trainer to confirm the jockey booking in a festival race - why? Why is Douvan still in the list of entries for the Champion Chase and why is it that he is the trainer where consistently we have to 2nd guess more with where his horses are going? There is no need of it. I read Dan Skelton confirms North Hill Harvey's likely target as the Arkle. You just simply would not get that with Mullins. It's not a case of some sort of duty to ante post punters it's about being open and transparent when asked questions.
He doesn't have any responsibility to punters. if you don't bet ante post then what does it matter to you if he says where his horses are going at 48 hr decs, 1 week before, 1 month before or 1 year before? It's like people are looking for things to complain about. Seriously, if you don't bet ante post, what does it matter to you what runs in the Arkle in March?
