I am not surprised. He has been lied to. It also might be his last chance to play at a higher level.

I am disappointed but not surprised at Holmes’ disloyalty. In the great scheme of things at this circus you can understand why he wants out. He only signed a new contract this summer.

i wouldnt care if he is sold. i'd obviously like him to stay as it would put us in a better starting position come new owners. but until we get new owners, i'm not really investing in this lot. RD will asset strip on his way out so it's better to not get attached at the moment.

I predicted this months ago. Not Itk, just common sense. Hopefully the rumours about Millwall wanting him will come to nothing. The club is in limbo, no sense of purpose, the season is a write-off, the manager calling the owner an idiot, Roland dragging out the sale to God-knows-who. Who could expect any players to be happy?

Agree with all of that, but once again Robinson has let his mouth run away with him. By saying that Holmes is unsettled and he needs to sit down and talk to him, he is basically waving a “For Sale” sign over his head.

but we all know he's for sale?.... so why would that come as a surprise to other clubs?

Yes that seemed odd, after all nothing had been made public up until then. Seems like Robinson has decided he may as well be hung for a sheep as for a lamb. Unlike SCP, he'll probably have plenty to say when he gets the bullet.

This is a sad state of affairs.

If any player can be said to have given maximum commitment from the beginning of last season to now it is Ricky Holmes.
Granted his form has been a bit uneven at times and his decision making sometimes lets him down. And now he is disillusioned of course. But I'm not going to hold it against him if he wants to leave now.
So many times (particularly last season) he busted a gut when other players were phoning it in.

Best of luck to you Ricky. If every Charlton player over the last 18 months had worked as hard as you, we might have achieved something despite our useless owner.

Anyway, it's a Charlton tradition, selling POTY next season.

The Apologists are noticeably quiet today.

No doubt the Official Apologist Response will be “Holmes wasn’t that good anyway”....just like-

    Yann
    Hamer
    Morrison
    Cousins
    JBG
    Stephens
    No Hope Pope
    Lookman
    Fox
    Gomez etc

All “not that good anyway”, and all replaced by better players.

If he goes, our 'promotion' push has finished.
No chance of getting a replacement as good either, if at all.
