I quite liked it that I didn't receive any fuss at work today because of it being my birthday. I think that with recent staff changes no-one knew, and I wasn't going to tell them. They'll find out tomorrow when I take in the chocolate cake that my son delivered to me just after 7 this evening!

Morning all, bright and dry now after a little overnight rain. Computer doctor diagnosed that urgent work was needed for replacement surgery. A new hard disk to be obtained and installed should get things up and running again. Belated Birthday wishes to Barry. I might pop over if there is chocolate cake on offer.

Good day one and all. Quite bright and dry in rural France, but I would like it warmer. While traveling down the autoroute yesterday part of it was coned off. Lots of blue lights suggested an accident, but as I approached the incident found a dozen men with rifles and a dead wild boar by the roadside. I guess it may have been hit by a vehicle or had been on the road. As much as I dislike having to kill them they are a real danger, frequently writing cars off and the occupants injured or killed. A second one was being loaded into a van, and as I returned a couple of hours later the hunters were still there sweeping through the adjacent woodland. Not something you see on a shopping trip very often.
Same up here with the deer - but to be fair, it does take a while to kill, skin, butcher and divvy up the meat...
When I had a deer jump over a hedge landing on my car, it caused €3000 worth of damage, and it was a frightening experience. My neighbour was quite furious that I had not stopped to load it into the boot. At one time he was a butcher.
