Today sees racing from Sunny Catterick Bridge, Chepstow, Worcester and evening meetings at Killarney across the Sea and Kempton Park and Wolverhampton. A winner at Catterick Bridge from anyone would be very nice
Morning all couple of horses i fancy today. spitfire - catterick 4.20 Although its not in good form by any strech and and has gradually dropped its OR, i think that the ground and the handicapping could suit in the finally stages of the race. And at 12/1 at the moment its a decent E/W bet. FAST SHOT - Catterwick 3.50 NAP Has clearly hit form lately and on its last outing it was very unlucky to finish second at leciester, beaten by the favourite. Seems to have improved over the shorter lengths but has the potential to improve over for 7f.
I like quite a few today 3.00 Sergeant Troy - 10/1 Interesting handicap race in which 15 (2 non runners already - cue Big Mac) are due to go to post including a few lightly raced horses who are open to improvement. I think Sergeant Troy is a very interesting runner in the race given the recent form of his yard and the fact that he has dropped down the handicap to just 3lbs higher than his early season handicap winning form. He gets this trip well and this good ground should be absolutely ideal for him. They try the tongue tie here and that could prove invaluable as I think he has been having a few issues in lasting home and to me it could be a breathing issue rather than a lack of talent. I think he is on a winning mark and at 10/1 I think he is a fine bet. 4.00 Swendab - 11/8 I think this is not only the form horse in the race but the one who will get the race run to suit. He is shorter than I would have liked so is only a small bet. 4.30 Band Of Thunder - 6/1 This horse looks a proper staying plodder in the making and I think he will win this race today. He has good course form and whilst he would probably like it softer I think he will put his best run of the season in today. I will be on later for the AW fun!!
Just had a couple of days on London and downed a few pints of Spitfire Monday evening - very tasty I must say
Agree with Beautiful Day although from the draw can see Red River Boy going well. That 320 looks a 'pig' of a race! I've opted for Bijou Dan (sentiment, daughter!) and Miss Ferney as DanB says they will hold her up for a late run to get the trip, may just sneak a place . My best bets for the day are: Royal Blade in the 420 although if money comes for Dandys Regency Art that will run a big race! 220: An interesting runner is Gowanharry from Dods yard, he has a good record in this race. Cannot fathom the 250 but Strong Man will be my tenner bet! 350: Why has Charlie Hills sent one horse all this way? Squires Gate at 8s looks a nice bet. 450 is another tricky event, Al Furat and Kians Delight, will see which one looks the best in the parade ring Placepot: 6/10-5-5/6-1-6/7-3/5 after the last one i fully expect to be out after leg one
Monumental gamble taking place in the 1st at the bridge! Gowanharry backed from 12s into 4s in places!! Missed the boat and only got 8s, very annoying indeed
Good morning all... Not posted on here before, but was a member of the now defunct 606, and can see a few of the regulars on the old site now posting here... Hope its as freindly as the last site... Anyway just a few that i like, not much to go at today me thinks... 4.10 Worcester - Tae Kwon Do, 2/1 nap... also... 5.20 Catterick - Mr Mo Jo, 13/2 4.30 Chepstow - Sea The Flames, 4/1 Good luck to all...
Cheers GDC... Hopefully i can impart some of my guess work to picking out the occasional winner...!!!
Most interesting runner of the day for me is Victrix Gale (NAP) in the 6.30 at Killarney. The former Nicky Henderson inmate makes her debut for Tony Martin in this mares only beginners chase and at 6/1 looks worth a dabble Good luck everyone today
GDC - I dont know what winners are coming at Catterick but nearly every ride De Sousa is on today seem to be drifting... Maybe its a sign...
OddDog: How was the dear old Smoke? Long time since I returned home, have to do it one of these days.......................Certainly a damn sight different than when I was a nipper (ca. 1875 - ) for sure...........
RedDeer I found London most invigorating - Spitfire ale, Chicken Madras, pilau rice and a plain naan BTW your napping has been exemplary last few days - well done, almost Nass-esque ;-)
