As was the derelict and dilapidated Liverpool waterfront many moons ago.

    Welcome to the point

For the record I am happy with Everton getting a new stadium. However I do hope the mayor wasn't involved in the process as suddenly lending all that money does seem very much a dodgy deal now

Tobes, when did the city council ever "lend" Liverpool Football Club £280m?

    Welcome to the real world.

Joe has surely shot himself in the foot this time, the city is on its knees, not only library and swimming bath closures but healthcare in the community also.
And as if it will all be now agreed and smooth sailing to do it.

Me too jk, but he should stick to the agreed deal, he can't just move the goalposts and expect everyone to keep quiet about it.

Who was talking about that? Nice swerve <laugh>

Joe is flying a kite, start off low and end on a justifiable compromise, that makes economic sense.

So does this mean that Liverpool city council is a better bet to lend to than EFC?

The mayor is the only one involved in the process atm as I understand it as it hasn't been put to the full council yet.

There's two large building developments in town that came to a standstill and have gone over their time penalty limit weeks ago, one in Chinatown and the other in the Baltic Quarter, on were the construction company went out of business and the other company couldn't afford to finish the enterprise.
Point being companies to bang before completing their obligations, Joe will end up bankrupted and in Walton Gaol is that happens with the Everton build, EFC would still owe the council the £7m a year while the council would owe the lender all of it.<laugh>

Around the time LFC almost went into liquidation Liverpool City Council was a lot better off financially than it is now because austerity hadn't kicked in, did they offer to help LFC?
FSG bought LFC for less than Joe is prepared to lend Everton.<laugh>

I have been you know. you've just assumed.

I have pointed out a more sizable arena to compete with a stadium.

I'd not consider the echo area competition for a concert arena.

Its where you go to see little mix isn't it tobes :)

In fainress the council have good plans aorund anfield and did CPO houses for us so that was the extent of help i ASSUMED a non-corrupt and fiscally sound council could go.

If I'd known at the time we could get the entire thing paid for and keys handed to us well... wow..

Stuff like this brings out the worst of tribalism in fans.

I was pulled up for saying ''homophobic slurs'' and said puller-upper countered some time later with something similar [used presumably by Liverpool fans but in reality who knows] ''vile racism'' - you know as opposed to the nice kind of racism.

As you would say - hmmm

Tribalism was the thing that stopped the first attempted move to Stanley Park by LFC, Evertonian councillors and Evertonian residents from the surrounding area where stomping their feet and throwing hissyfits.
The same thing happened in reverse when Everton proposed a move to Wally Hall park.<laugh>

If it's good for the city, get it done but Joe doesn't exactly fill me with confidence in terms of what's good for the city. He has 'previous' <ok>
