But laws have changed those habits, so how are they harming you?

I'd be genuinely interested to know. Especially as people cannot smoke in enclosed spaces anymore.

You've got more risk of harm to another person by a motor vehicle than you have these days from second hand smoke from an unknown person.

The reason I said 10 years is because it will take that long to gather medical evidence to make it conclusive.

Much of the alarm caused by this study hangs on the strength of evidence from previous reports linking these chemicals to lung damage. However, this study didn't look at this issue directly, so whether there is a link between e-cigarettes and "popcorn lung" is currently unknown.

    From NHS site.

Ecigs will harm you but not to the extent of normal cigs, so its best not to do it <ok>

Either way there's bound to be something with them (though clearly not as much as ***s), and I know for a fact that a couple of years ago they were telling asthmatics not to use them.

This is why it will take 10 years for the medical community to gather conclusive evidence. They need to see the effect of e-cigs over a sustained period.

I think that is down to a lack of knowledeg more than a definite harm they will do.

I'm not saying that there will never be any issue with them but at this moment in time there are no facts to say they are harmful.

Isn't just essentially vegetable oil going into your mouth cells? Can't be good long term.

Inhaling anything into your lungs other than air is always going to be a bad idea

Yeah might have been, I'm talking in general terms as you hear a lot of people saying that they will be something with them in years to come but there's no actual proof.

No they said that they were causing severe asthmatics all sorts of problems and were strongly advising them not to be used.

Whether or not it is still the case a couple of years later I have no idea.

I only do as I'm asthmatic and with a review with a nurse at my surgery and a cns was present.

When the nurse asked if I had considered using one just as I was saying I find I get a really bad reaction to them the cns interrupted to say they were starting to advise asthmatics to not use them.

Like I say though this waa a couple of years ago so have no idea if this is still the case.

Surely the same can be said for many things in life.

Everything may harm you at some point, although does not mean it will be the cause of your death.

Surely as long has smokers avoid non smokers then what's the problem?

Unfortunately i cannot avoid the daily inhalation of diesel fumes or moron motorists but hey you have to tolerate it just the same.

Yeah you can take the moral high ground of NHS costs but that applies to every hospital admission regardless of cause. Where do you want to draw the line in who we shouldn't treat.

I get and agree with avoiding second hand smoke, but other than that how people lead their lives should not be dictated by others, nor should it be discriminated against just because you don't like it, when it's highly likely those frowning have some vice that harms their life too.

I don't wish to put a downer on this debate, but it may be worth remembering that we are all in fact going to die one day. I mean, you all know that, right? That no one lives for ever?

Fine. As you were then. Carry on <ok>

Aside from the point you make regards the NHS there's also the point of just how much smokers contribute to it...

<laugh> Don't count on that mate. I made it to 56 and am still going strong, **** knows how.

Anyway, with all the ***s I smoked and pints I tipped down my neck back in the day, I reckon I've paid for my own hospital ward by now.

That's the point I was making to brb and the holier than thou brigade tend to forget (or Ignore) when talking about how smokers abuse the NHS etc.
