That's a good point...hope it's true because the last thing Charlton needs is another asset stripper.
I'm still of the view that anything's better than Roland. The club is dying on its feet atm, and to continue to boycott under new owners would mean playing a small part in continuing along that path. I don't think McLeish is ready to give up hopes of returning to management, and has expressed an interest in the Scotland job, so maybe he's just a go-between. And I think we'd have more chance of getting out of L1 under Mark McGhee than Robinson.
Not to disagree, but Les Reed was a dreadfull manager but a great coach (and the coaching has continued to be his strength). Being a useless manager doesn't bode well as an owner, but neither does it mean he will definately be useless. I'll keep quiet about this till we get a new owner named, but after the fanfare of RD's arrival, the likes of Muir entering witth an announcement that he plans 'premier league football at the Valley within three years' would be met with a bit of cinicism from me. It's a well proved saying at the Valley that talk is cheap.
i sort of agree. ANYONE else who is capable of breathing is going to be better than roland. they'll be at the ground for a start, be able to communicate, understand that hiring a manager is putting someone skilled in charge of picking a team (as opposed to him or that little sh1t driesen). if they have no money though, our spell in L1 could be longer than we want, and they might also only be in it for the move to north greenwich and their share of the £800m redevelopment money.
You have to apply the “Malice Test” to any new owner. If I trip over your outstretched leg once, it’s an accident, twice an unfortunate coincidence. Three times or more and it’s deliberate. That’s where we are at with Duchatelet and this current impasse in the transfer window. I go back to what I said - he conned ST holders last summer.
But sadly the last people who talked of getting us to the 'Premier League' were Zabeel. With Slater&Jimenez we got 'Evolution, not Revolution', and with RD we just got raped.
I can't believe there would be a new owner, whoever it turns out to be, with as little ambition as Roland. One step at a time, we've got to get out of div 3 first.
First step would be to work out if their motivations & ambitions are honourable. Meire said Duchatelet had a 'different kind of ambition'....What the F*ck did that mean..? #nothingtodowithfootball
If Charlton fans have become so cynical that they will not renew season tickets for anyone less than a 'perfect' new owner then the Club will continue to decline until it eventually loses its League status and the Valley. We aren't snowflake fans who want a sugar daddy just to come along and solve all our problems. Lean times and making do are part of our heritage. We fought to better ourselves in the past and we can fight again in the future. Unless the new owner is a hedge fund or a property developer (ie; not even a football related business) we surely have to give that new owner the benefit of the doubt, and be willing to trust in their good intentions. Within a season or two, events will reveal the truth about them as happened with Duchatelet. But let's not go looking for the worst case scenario before the ink is dry on the takeover.
Motivation for buying Charlton is the key thing for me. Separating the Valley from the Club again is also a complete no-no.
If mcleish is involved in a takeover then I’d be surprised if he moved for the managers job. What happens if it goes tits up?
McLeish will be the DOF. Muir will be on the board. But will not happen in January. Source poster on CL
I only take notice of David Smith on this subject, across all the social media. Too many WUMS (AngelDust, RedHenry), idiots (BexleyBoy) and wannabees (Rick Everitt) posting takeover BS.
