We will buy 1-2 players to keep fans happy. If the board are keeping Pellegrino then their ambition is clearly low and aren’t going to spend big. IMO giving Pellegrino a new set of expensive players is a waste of money. Keeping Pellegrino and spending big = muddled thinking.
I'm guessing 'View From The Top' who said: "Agents stalling, want more ££ and players very reluctant to join a team in real danger of relegation. Definite impact on Theo deal, which is now looking very iffy at best and AN Other, I've no name as of yet but I believe French, who has now decided against a move. I'll try to find out more before the weekend. Hope they are wrong about Theo, I'd like to see him at Saints."
Cheers know of the poster but don't pay enough attention to know if he is genuinely itk or not... The bit about someone changing their mind would make sense though seeing as someone was close.
I literally said that about players thinking over moves and agents holding out until later into the window. Doesn't mean I'm ITK. The money of the PL will always be a lure, and we're not in the bottom 3 as it stands. Add in relegation clauses etc if need be. Seems like a simple enough assumption for any fan to make tbh.
Yeah I don't really go on there much but recognise the name. I'm not sure our league position is off putting, so much as something at the club that is putting players off. Realistically we're a good run of form away from the top half, but whether it's Pellegrinos ineptitude or Reed/Krueger/Wilson messing about or just not selling the club very well, something is off.
I don't think it would make a huge difference, not sure I would want a player with that mentality anyway. Surely any footballer with confidence in their ability would either a) fancy themselves to help keep us up or b) back themselves to do enough for a move should the worst happen.
I can’t see there’s anything on this thread that is unique, so I’m merging it to the Transfers thread.
We've got nothing to look forward to in this window except bargain basement buys and maybe a loan or 2 to try and keep the fans on board (good luck with that). To be honest, I don't think MP2 is the man to get the best value from new players anyway, so it might be pointless to try and improve the squad when he can't get the players he has to perform. I didn't want Puel to go last season so was underwhelmed from the start by MP2. I now think he's completely clueless. There'll be a bit more bullshit from Ralph telling us that we went for top players, but because we couldn't get value, we didn't go through with any, and we'll get some spin about how some kid from nowhere is the next big thing. Unfortunately, I am of the opinion that MP2 aint good enough, the board have shot themselves in the foot by saying MP2 isn't going anywhere, and the new owners might as well be the old owner for all the difference it has made with regards to our ability to compete in the market. Am not depressed about it though, as it's only football but I do find it bloody annoying that we can make progress, and then lose all the ground we've made by refusing to be realistic in a changing market.
