Conte confirms we beat off opposition from Chelsea for VvD. "22:34 CONTE: CHELSEA WANTED VAN DIJK Antonio Conte, who insisted Chelsea will attempt to continue strengthening their squad in January, admitted the Blues worked hard to lure Virgil van Dijk to Stamford Bridge, before the Holland defender eventually signed for Liverpool in a record £75m deal. Asked if he was disappointed not to recruit Van Dijk, the Chelsea boss said: "This is football. This is life. For sure he was our target but as you know this is football. "We can have a lot of targets but you must be able to reach those targets. The transfer market is not simple for any club."
Moshiri is a cheeky twat. "SUAREZ HAD TO BITE TO LEAVE' Lukaku, who is big friends with Manchester United playmaker Paul Pogba, eventually moved to Old Trafford in July for an initial £75m after Jose Mourinho caught his former side napping over the transfer. "I got close to Rom, I like the boy, he's a good boy, and I used all my charm to keep him and I flatly failed," Moshiri added. "Ultimately we lost money. To buy Rom now would be £120m. The issue was his brain had gone. He was in LA (with Pogba) and he wouldn't come back. "It happens. Alex Ferguson got another year out of (Cristiano) Ronaldo but then he was off. (Luis) Suarez had to bite a few players to get off." " He's not far wrong though.
All depends on what you consider value or are prepared to pay, we allegedly beat Madrid to Pogba but only because we were prepared to pay more.
Of course, it was Carlton's unsecret mission to lure his mate to OT all along, the injury was just a front.
And that's the way it has been for years, even Fergie broke a few transfer fee records in his time, never did him any harm over all.
100% agree. We won't know the reasons why he picked here unless he releases a book. What I do know is the chelsea gazzumping has died down recently and that's good.
Exactly, I have never bought this "dream come true" bullshit for any player. Ronaldo stated in his first week at OT that he dreamed of playing for Madrid but I am fairly certain that if Barca had offered him a better signing on fee and higher wages (plus putting in a higher bid) he would have quite happily gone there as his dream move You are bang on with Fergie, he broke quite a few transfer records over the years but only ever for a single player that he wanted/needed, not to buy half a team in one window. TBH I think Klopp is heading the same way when he gets the chance, get the one you want not 5 you can make do with.
I kinda get what you mean. Answer me a question though. If Man UTD wanted to sign you but they weren't challenging for the league but Man City or Real came in for you, who would you sign for?
I wouldn't sign for Utd. Bunch of cvnts. I'd deffo go to Spain. Have a Vitamin D deficiency and the sunshine would do me good
All depends on age and if you think you have the ability to hold a first team place down in said teams, if younger and capable Man UTD, if older and unsure of commanding a first team place the one that paid the most wages. Up to a certain age it's all about ambition and wanting to play, once you reach a peak and are unlikely to get better it's about getting the best contract.
