Racism is racism. Regardless of any generational gap. He needs sacking if he has been a ****. He should also be sacked for being crap at his job however perennial failure is lauded at this club.
Agree with your first point. My hope is that he hasn’t been racist and that it’s a generational issue about what used to be acceptable and what the younger generation are not prepared to accept.
I heard Gibson was advised to leave by a member of the coaching staff in order to escape the bullying! We all need to be careful what we believe until any facts come out. Also led to believe there's a racist nature to this - backed up by a number of players. I loved him as a player but have always been underwhelmed by his manner which can appear superior. Great players don't necessarily make great coaches - they lack empathy with youngsters.
Intent is the key. I hope it’s all wrong but he’s been in trouble for bullying (not racism) before I believe. To be honest, I’m surprised anyone can understand a word he says.
Totally agree about any racist aspect. If he has been guilty of that then he deserves to go regardless of his history with the club. I am still hoping there is nothing to this, but the generational gap excuse could possibly be a reason behind any perceived bullying. Beardsley came through when young players were still expected to be boot boys, and probably has very little empathy with the way things are now. However, as a club we need someone in place who knows how to handle the young players and their expectations in a modern world.
Bullying in itself, perhaps. Racism, definitely not. Either way, if he wants to work with kids he needs to be able to get with the times and learn how to effectively communicate with them. If he cannot do that, he cannot do the job.
Apparently we suggested that certain players should be good at climbing trees while on a away-day at "Go-Ape". Given his career and who he's played with, i doubt he's a card carrying member of the KKK, probably a very bad joke gone wrong, but still, you can't say things like that.

Got to say if he has said what was alleged then I don't think he has anyone to blame but himself. Do think some people now a days can be offended at the drop of a hat but if you say "your lot should be good at this" to a bunch of Black/African players climbing trees that is stupid at best. Maybe they misconstrued what was said, how it was said and maybe something was lost in translation - I've told jokes to European friends who simply don't get British blue, aggressive, brash, and self patronizing sense of humor at all. He is in a world of trouble here if the reports are correct and with ex players coming out saying they have been "bullied" as well, I think that is it at SjP for Beardo...
Heard Beardsley speak at St James as a club ambassador, I think it was called, after a match. It was the period when a few people had got carried away and were suggesting that Harper should get an England cap. Someone asked Beardsley whether he thought Harper was an international class keeper, Beardsley said he didn't think he was a Premiership class keeper. This was while we were in the Prem and Harper was our starting keeper. I remember being both impressed with his honesty and gobsmacked by his lack of understanding of what you can and can't say. Not surprised it might have got him in trouble.
Just happened to see this: "Manchester United striker Romelu Lukaku has hit out at H&M’s "racist" children's hoodie advert, modifying the controversial slogan to read "Black Is Beautiful". The original photo showed the black child model wearing a green sweatshirt with the caption: "Coolest monkey in the jungle" on the front." Could not believe that the picture got published and I understand the outrage but it was either: a. An example of pure racism of the sort not seen since the 50's: or b. The work of someone who is so oblivious to race that the connection between a black person and a monkey never crossed his mind. I like to think that it was probably the latter, though you have to wonder how many people must have looked at it before it got published without one of them saying: "Err . . . why don't we have this kid model the elephant or the giraffe slogan t-shirts instead"
Would it have been racist if a couple of black players had said to a couple of white - 'Our people are better climbers?'. No - It would have been laughed off.
