There’s no brands you would recognise from Blighty apart from confectionary.

I'm very ignorant when it comes to life in Thailand my only experience is travel/cookery programmes, I imagine you as living in a hut somewhere in the jungle.

Not quite but I get your drift, it seems a bit like that food wise. In the big cities and towns you can buy everything you can at home pretty much but specialty items like pot noodles :emoticon-0136-giggl there are shops that cater. The Thai beef is **** and no matter what cut or how long you marinade it is as tough as Anne Widdicombs labias. So if I make a shepherds pie or chilli con carne it’s made with pork or pork n chicken minced.

We have a Friday and Monday farmers market so I tend to stock up with meat, fish & veg then. A kilo of pork loin is 100baht (around £2:29) Chicken breasts 70baht a kilo (1:69) catfish, eels or tilapia about the same as chicken.

Well I’ve managed not to eat bread since New Year’s Day. I’ve also managed to stay out the pub since the 30th.

The consequence of this is my acid reflux has been a lot better. Also my trousers don’t feel as tight.

The acid thing is annoying over the Christmas period, I don't get it bad or often but also have some tablets just in case as it's hell when you get it.

I get it all the time. Been on tablets for years from the doctor. Have been referred to a specialist and am awaiting an appointment.

It is vile. I’ve usually got a packet of rennie on me and have been taking omeprazole for about 6 years on and off. Bread and pastry are big culprits for causing it.

I avoid pastry as it will usually get me, white wine is also bad if I haven't eaten. I'm ok with bread though but usually eat brown or wholemeal.

Went to my folks house for dinner. She did a roast beef with the trimmings.

    She’d overlooked the beef.

She does it in the slow cooker. Tasty enough but I prefer mine raw in the middle.
