10 in 10 years. Pretty sure both Newcastle and Sunderland have it a similar stat in recent years.

Newcastle 2006-16 10 different managers. (Currently on 9th manager in 10 years)
Sunderland 2008-18 10 different managers. (been a rolling thing for us)

Highly doubt we're the only three. Sign of the times unfortunately. It's not a good thing but Forest are deffo 1 of many.

To be fair, if Mark Hughes is the poster boy for sticking with your manager, you can see why everyone's hell bent on sacking theirs.

You on Sky's payroll now, Joker?

    Chelsea:

    01/07/2016 - 30/06/2021 Antonio Conte
    20/12/2015 - 30/06/2016 Guus Hiddink
    01/07/2013 - 17/12/2015 José Mourinho
    21/11/2012 - 30/06/2013 Rafa Benítez
    05/03/2012 - 21/11/2012 Roberto Di Matteo
    01/07/2011 - 04/03/2012 André Villas-Boas
    01/07/2009 - 30/06/2011 Carlo Ancelotti
    11/02/2009 - 30/06/2009 Guus Hiddink
    01/07/2008 - 09/02/2009 Luiz Felipe Scolari
    20/09/2007 - 24/05/2008 Avram Grant

Or do we all go by the "do not speak ill of the devil" amendment the rest of the media abide by?

Chelsea always have a squad full of world-class players.
    Nottingham Forest do not.

The financial chasm between the clubs is almost incomprehensible.
Forest are trying to get promoted and not fighting for the top honours.

I don't think it's even viable to compare the clubs.

Forest need to be building a squad, but ripping out the foundations every few months is not going to achieve it.

His record isn't bad considering the money available to him.

Do Stoke honestly hope to get European football with their squad?

They sold Arn... what's his name to West Ham but haven't replaced his quality.

Somewhat but the loaning of say Jese this season was understandably expected to be an adequate replacement. Absolutely hasn't worked out mind.
I think Stoke fans genuinely do expect them to be looking to reach it when they go out and buy Shaqiris, Imbulas, Jeses etc. and all that money spunked on Berahino.
I think the owners are cautious to sack him because they know full well the investment has been worse this season.

...and the latest idiot walks through the revolving Nottingham Forest doors.

    Aitor Karanka this time.

    How long will he last?

    Any predictions?

I'm going to say 3 months - he won't get them promoted and will be sacked.

    Forest... <doh>

When you look at the last 10 years for NUFC (to make it a LFL comparison) too (going back to Keegan who left on 16th Jan 2008) we've had caretaker/temporary managers (Pearson/Carver/JFK) but actually in terms of proper permanent managers it's only:

    Keegan
    Hughton
    Pardew
    McLaren
    Benitez

So 5 formally appointed full time managers in the last 10 years isn't half bad in the modern game I reckon.

    https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_Newcastle_United_F.C._managers

Stripping out the Sunderland caretakers/temp managers (2 of them I think. Black and Ball?) in January 2008 Roy Keane was manager... since then they have had (starting with Keane):

    Keane
    Sbragia
    Bruce
    O'Neil
    Di Canio
    Poyet
    Advocaat
    Allardyce
    Moyes
    Grayson
    Colman

So in the last 10 years it looks as though 11 managers have been appointed by SAFC which does look rather a lot.

Include all your managers. You've left managers off who had more games than PDC who you included on ours <doh><doh>(Yep, worth a double)

You petty twisting baby. **** off and pull the other one, it's got bells on. The over all point is it's part of the game and that's sad showing we've been bad for it to. It's not a school yard game of you had more managers than me. You need to grow up boy and stop beeling. :emoticon-0102-bigsm

It is slightly skewed though because Pardew was in charge for half of those ten years so then we fall back into the status quo

It did come over a touch ranty for the rather benign subject matter.

    That's Raging + Beelin' Trev...

He also complains so much about people flying off the handle at him too....<whistle>

Basically Bri did a micro Fredor to try to compare apples with pears over different timescales... and got found out as I spent half a bag of walkers cheese and onion looking on Wiki for all of 1 minute...
Did you know we had 3 Chris Hughton's as managers by the Bri method? <laugh><laugh>

    :emoticon-0159-music'There's only 3 Chrissy Hughtons... 3..... Chrissy Hughtons'.....:emoticon-0159-music

    Stat time kiddies!!! :1980_boogie_down:

in the club's respective histories Newcastle have had 39 managers and sunderland 45 - (slight discrepancy is possibly due to the fact that N'cle had no permanent manager until 1930 - team selected by committee prior to this). These figures include long term and caretaker managers but not where a caretaker was appointed more than once.

Since the start of the PL - both clubs have employed 19 and 21 managers respectively

So, Newcastle have employed 49% of their managers and sunderland 47% of their managers since 1992

Since joining the club in 2009, Lee Cattermole has played for 24.5% of all of sunderland's managers in their history

So basically neither club is better than the other particularly and it seems that the PL (and associated money) has increased the pressure on managers to deliver significantly
