I wish he expanded on that. Sounds like it is personal otherwise, particularly when he was far too dismissive of Hughes' record at Stoke in the past 3 seasons.
Agreed. Taking Barton’s side on this is rather like backing Stalin over Hitler in an argument over who’s the biggest tosser.
How refreshing to see someone actually express an opinion. I know Joey can be a prize arse, but I am inclined to accept his view here.
Wish we still had Joey as captain. And staggering that they didn’t let him lead the team out at Game 4 Grenfell.
IMO, Hughes is the worst manager we have had for ages. He had money to spend on improving the squad and wasted it. His tactics were predictable, substitutions ALWAYS took place on 70 minutes, you could set your watch by them. I blame him for the situation we are in now. 1000000000 times worse than Redknapp. Oh, Hughes is a **** as well. Just surprised he took as long to **** up at Stoke as he did. That is probably because he didn't have to build a side.
Am I the only one here who is completely indifferent to Mark Hughes, I don’t hate him, I don’t love him, I don’t spend any time apart from this post thinking about what he did or didn’t do, said or didn’t say, will do or won’t do now or at any time in the future. Oh and the same goes for any of our past managers coaches and owners. I moved on immediately they left, and I don’t regret a scintilla of my indifference. Bon appetite!
Hughes is responsible for our darkest hour in recent times, with his pal Joorabchian, for all the mercenaries that turned up at our club. Tony may have signed the cheques, but he naively trusted Hughes - and we are now reaping the benefits by facing a huge FFP fine. Definately the worst manager we've had for years.
I'm the same though while Colin keeps repeating his success with us at other Championship Clubs I wish him back. I also think Hughes was the worst Manager we ever had and wasted our fundIng then on players who were past their best. But done is done.
Worse than Arry...not sure about that. . Hughes wanted himself ( and by association us ) to succeed. Arry was just taking every one for a ride ...he was just after money for himself... Sent from my STF-L09 using Tapatalk
I see Hughes thinks that Stoke will do better in the second half of the season. Of course they will, he's not there now!!
Hughes MAY never have been relegated, that's because he has either jumped ship or been given the Spanish archer before the inevitable. Oh yeah, he's a **** too.
Speaking to BBC Radio Wales, Gabbidon, who was handed his international debut by Hughes, said he was ultimately left disappointed by his former manager’s behaviour. “He put me into the Wales squad as a youngster and at that point I thought he was a good manager. But then, further on in my career, working with him at QPR, I saw a different side to him which I didn’t really like. “The way he treated me, I expected more from him. He dropped me from the team. My last game was a cup game, I played and scored the winner. Then the next game I had a bit of a problem with my back so I couldn’t play. “He said he’d work me back into the side. I never played again, just sat on the bench for the season. He never pulled me aside to say why I wasn’t playing. “We never spoke for the rest of the season. Got to the end of the season and my contract was ending. I was two games short of a contract extension. He never rung me himself, he got some other guy to ring me to say, ‘Sorry Mark is on holiday, we’re not retaining your services.’ “He didn’t have the decency to [do it himself].” Harsh words from Gabbidon who clearly feels Hughes wasn’t fair with him during their time together at QPR. Of course, there’s two sides to every story and Hughes may have felt it was time to move Gabbidon on. The lack of communication with a player he had previously handed an international debut to though, does seem strange.
Have a great dislike for Hughes. He is absolutely responsible for establishing the rot in this club. The board may have signed the cheques, but they did trust and support their appointed manger to make the right decisions. Very bad choice in retrospect. His cockiness at interviewing US for the job. His inability to have any way of finding good players without his moneymaker Joorabchian. He’s a ****. A ****er. A ****. Should have retired after taking off his boots.
